Benitez Boatrace Martinez Mush Klinsmanns Konk The list is endless........ seriously, you need to give him a bit more time. Rome wasn't built in a day.
How fickle are some of you lot! You are beginning to sound like some of the Geordie fans a while ago when they were saying they wanted Mourinho as new manager. Get a grip FFS, what good would having 3 managers in 18 months do ?
I'd have 12 in 12 months if we landed on the right one. I'm sick of repeating I don't want him gone, but I'm not gonna pretend 1 in 19 is acceptable. It's beyond dross.
From an outsiders perspective I would say calling for O'Neill's head is too early at the moment, your aim this season was to finish top 10, you're currently only four points from that aim after only nine games with a game in hand (although the reality is that it's points on the board that matter). I also think those berating fans for wanting O'Neill gone are slightly harsh, as whilst you're only four points from the top ten you're also only 5 points from the bottom three. No team is too big or good to go down, look at us, leeds, forest etc. If it get's to Christmas and you've only chalked up another 1 or 2 wins, then those devoting complete faith to O'Neill will look a bit silly. However, on the other hand those very people will look like they know their stuff if by Christmas you've chalked up 6 or 7 more wins and are indeed in the top 10. Bottom line is I believe he needs your full support for the next 8-10 weeks and it's too early to cast him aside in my opinion, if there's no improvement come the end of the next 8-10 weeks then a new manager in for the January window may not be the worse thing. In short the season is only 9 games in, a few wins, or defeats for that matter on the bounce will paint a much more definitive picture. I'd say keep the faith for now lads, but just make sure it's not blind faith
Good post, clearly born in a non NE postcode... He will have my full support Saturday when I sit in the cold watching my beloved team flap about like salmon on a riverbank.
played over the tannoy at half-time last night was Bon Jovi's "Living On A Prayer" - rather apt really, considering the circumstances, at least as far as Sunderland were concerned.... wonder what may get played on Saturday at half-time, should Sunderland be losing to Villa by that stage?
Everybody is dissapointed by last nights result but h'way? Still not enough time, tactics and team selections are questionable however.
It's the happy clappers getting a bit sensitive as soon as you question O'Neill, that's all we are doing, read the title and at the end (just incase). Is it not good business sense to have a quick glance about when things aren't going well and getting close to desperate? Again I will say it, I pay my money and support the lads and MON at every single game and always have done. However if I want to come on here and express my real feelings, then that's what I will do. There's a couple of people supporting him that are going a bit ott and getting personal. Reason for this? It's because they are so desperate for O'Neill to succeed and it hurts that it potentially looks like it's going to end in failure.
So you like Martin O'Neill, would never have guessed but perhaps others have somewhat of a different opinion to you. ****ing grow up!!!!!!
No mate i'm not saying that at all, i just don't think that you'd get anyone from that list to come to us. Would you step into a job that demanded instant success or the bullet?
Rewind time. If someone had linked us to MON a few years back, how excited would we have been? And how do you think his record stands up against some of his legendary predecessors? I'm talking of the giants here; Buxton, Macmenemy, Crosby, Butcher. We may not like where we are now, but we have to give MON a fighting chance.
