Do you think that Monk could play Bartley and Fernandez at Centre Back, with Ash as defensive midfielder. Then either Leon or Tom Carroll, and Siggy in midfield?
Taff simple answer no. I can be certain that Ash will play his normal role with fernandez alonf side him. I will be amazed if he does anything other than that.
Ash has played in front of the back four for us and Wales, so no reason why not. Why can Bartley and Fernandez not jump? About the same height as Carroll but they got no where near him in London. The best we managed was Ash jumping into him as much as competing with him.
We haven't got a hope in hell of competing physically with West Ham so the only way to outdo them is to make sure they don't get the ball.
I'm looking forward to the game but not looking forward to the cold today. Fur knickers for me. I can't stand Carroll (not Tom). Always whining to referees as he uses his elbows in players' faces. Mr Miggins agrees so I must be right. We're taking along a friend today who hardly ever gets to games but he's never seen the Swans lose. For that reason I'll say 1-1. If we win then great.
We did have a player who knew exactly how to deal with Andy Carroll but he was driven out of the club by sanctimonious fans and our manager.
I believe he took the money and to be honest would we have kept just for two games ,unless of course we rolled him out of the cupboard , dusted him down and said right there's your man , we've got better overall in that department
Bob - Fernandez didn't play at Upton Park, so he may know exactly how to deal with Carroll. We will know by 5 o'clock!
Carroll had scored 3 goals since last March , 2 of them against us last game....I hate him ...Swans 3 - set pieces 2
I think we'll lose this one. If Monty was fit I'd have gone for a draw. Happy to be proven wrong however! Team news Swansea v West Ham (15:00 GMT) Posted at 14:19 Swansea boss Garry Monk makes eight changes to the side that beat Tranmere 6-2 in the FA Cup last weekend. Wilfired Bony is away on international duty, so Bafetimbi Gomis gets the chance to make his mark in attack. West Ham are without Alex Song, who misses out because of illness. Hammers striker Diafra Sakho is ruled out with the back injury so Enner Valencia starts, while Kevin Nolan is also in the first XI with Morgan Amalfitano on the bench. Swansea XI: Fabianski, Rangel, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor, Britton, Carroll, Dyer, Sigurdsson, Routledge, Gomis. West Ham XI: Adrian, Jenkinson, Tomkins, Reid, Collins, Cresswell, Noble, Nolan, Downing, Carroll, Valencia
Rangel will be advantaged on set pieces , we will have little good possession, we will park the bus , without help Gomis will lose interest early and run around like a chicken with his head cut off imo ,and that lefty sure is a fantastic Swan fan .Cant seeus scoring against the Hammers with this line up , even at home .2 - 0 Hammers.Starting to think we better keep Bony .
West Ham playing with 3 at the back and 2 wing backs. Similar to the away game. Let's see how we cope with that - Dyer and Rout need to be up to their best. Emnes does not even make the bench. What does the guy have to do. No Jazz either. Fulton is on the bench?
