I've wondered about Brucie's transfer record with us and have come up with this table which is current to jan 31st.

There are older manager appointments on for comparison.

I know there is more to transfers than simply the fee paid (wages or loan deals for example) but that should apply to all on the list.

Whenever I hear other supporters saying we are buying success, although I felt we were plus in the deals Brucie has done I had no proof.

We are over £7 million plus in the deals.

Of course there is more than just the figures above but it's a good indication of how we are doing compared to others.

When you add on the TV money, gate receipts and merchandising money surely we must be in a really healthy position with regard to finances.

I admit there could be flaws in this reasoning and welcome any comments but taking this at face value it's looking good.

I stated on an article the other day Bruce's points per pounds spent return on getting us up the table most be one of the best in the business.

I'm glad you've backed it up with some data. We are in very capable hands as is Short's money.

I have Brucey in the black by about 4million. Which considering the crap he has gotten rid of and replaced with far superior players is a very good track record.

We will, however, have to stump up quite a bit in cash for Onoaha, Mensah (?) and Muntari + a summer striker but should have the cash receipts in order to do so by then. we're talking about 25- 30million for this lot though and no more deadwood

You're right about the loan players Prague,we have five at the moment and if we were to get four of them (probably not Danny) it would cost in the region of £20 million and then there's the question of a striker as you mentioned.

Does Keane's net spend not affect things (no 7 in the list) or has all that been cleared by Mr Short?

I was only thinking about the Bruce period when some of my work mates were saying that we'd spent a huge amount to get where we are.
We were'nt doing too clever when RK left and Ricky took over, then, when Brucie became manager, we started (slowly) to improve. That's why I just looked at the SB period.
To be fair he inherited quite a few decent players but you have to start somewhere (or should I have gone back to Mick Mac's days or even before that)
RK was here during the Drumaville boys time but when Ellis Short took over he left. Does that give a starting point with SB,ES & NQ?

Anyway this was only info in case other supporters accuse us of buying 'success'

As to your question heroicsailorboy, the answer is I don't know but I'm sure others on here will be able to answer that.
