I think thats what some people expect! He probably had a couple other options, Man united may have snuck in a bid, maybe PSG or someone like that. The way Cesc sees it, Chelsea are an established CL club, who will give him the chance to stay at the top level and win more trophies, all while paying him a generous wage. He probably saw us as the better option. He probably would have gone back to Arsenal if they were interested, but they weren't, so whats the lad to do?
Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more. I don't want to be negative, but even I am having an uncomfortable feeling. Usually I don't feel the need to have the club explain their/Wengers actions or decisions, but not taking Fabregas back seems to be the worst decision he has taken. Unless..................
Yes - well put and exactly what Ive been trying to say on the other thread. We may have a large budget to spend but history teaches us that Wenger will more than likely not use it.
Cesc actually said: "Yes, everyone knows that Arsenal had the first option to sign me, they decided not to take this option and therefore it wasn't meant to be. I wish them well in the future." CLEARLY he wanted to move back to Arsenal, but the club rejected him, so what was he supposed to do?
Do you think he will get a sh!tty reception when we play you at the Emirates next season? Suppose that is a silly question.
I don't think he will much. All the Arsenal supporters I know wanted him and feel betrayed that we didn't go for him. To be honest I'm with PeterRick here and I'm not too happy we didn't get him either. If we wanted him we would have got him. If we splashed out over £40m on Ozil, then Cesc, a proven PL and La Liga player would have been worth the money. I will never boo Cesc after all he has done for us, but it was Wenger's choice at the end of the day. This Cesc issue won't blow over so easily, every time he punishes us on the field, Wenger will feel that little bit more uncomfortable about his decision.
Barca gave him something of a graceless send-off message via the official website, according to Arseblog: They took the message down, but what a weird thing to say. I was a little miffed as to why Cesc wanted to leave in the first place but on the back of that I can see why.
Well...only thing I'd say to that is that I can't see how Chelsea can punish us much more than they did last season1 The game at the Bridge was as good a r*ping as I've seen us suffer in quite some time. Maybe is they beat us by the same score and Cesc is on the sideline french kissing Maureen it would be worse but, frankly, by the time the fifth goal goes in the will to live has usually gone!
. But its true, Maureen's Chelsea has got Wenger's number big time, Cesc or no Cesc. The difference now is Chelsea will punish over teams and collect more points with the help of Cesc. Either way, they will punish us in the league.
The other thing to come out of this is that the pressure on Ozil just got a whole lot more. Rather than taking the pressure off him by signing a world class talent, Arsene has upped the pressure on him as there will be constant direct comparisons between Ozil and Fabregas next season.
Hadn't even thought of that but you're not wrong. We'll need one or two "proper" signings to help alleviate this but I think even were we to sign the oft mentioned super-striker there will still be Mesut/Cesc comparisons. Personally I think he'll have an even better second season but the scrutiny won't be fun for him.
Only just seen the news, been rushed off my feet the past couple of days, so i missed the story If we don't sign a top drawer player now, then surely all eyes must be pointed in le moron's direction? Why pass on a world class player, even if we didn't need him? I honestly thought he was going to go to Bayern, but the fact that we've decided to strengthen a rival again is just baffling. Looks like Wenger's braincells have taken a permanent vacation.
That's like saying "Why pass on a £500 Michelin Star chef cooked burger, even if you're not hungry?"
When you consider other top teams sign players to stop them going to a rival, the fact we handed a world class CAM to chelsea is a bit irritating, and Wenger should be slapped with a glove for it. EDIT: Just remembered, you're a filthy Wengerite, logic doesn't exist for you.
I'm neither a "Wengerite" or a ... whatever you want to call the opposite of that. That exists only in your own little head. What other clubs have signed players they don't have a place in the squad for just to stop them going to a rival, exactly?
Agreed We haven't always agreed on here before either, but I am with you on this. As much as I would have loved to have seen Cesc back in an Arsenal shirt, we just didn't need him, especially given the context of the areas that we do need to strengthen in.
stupid post . Fabregas " went home " How can he " come home " to Arsenal . Its not rocket science . I just dont care where he goes . Clearly you have accepted the mercenary attitude of all footballers , i feel sorry for you , Some of us STILL see it as tw@ttish . " he cant win " ? of course he can win you dope . There must be a dozen teams he could play for without playing for a direct competitor of Arsenal in the same league . he "chooses " not to .
I dont think hes a wengerite , but hes not an Arsenalite either . Hes more interested in Fab having a nice happy career than anything else . and we are " morons " for calling Fab a mercenary . Too much to ask apparently , to ask him not to sign for a direct rival for PL points . I mean , Fab cant have gone to any other team in Europe can he .........who would want him ?
