Mourinho haggled over the price so that they would in no way strengthen a rival. Arsene fails to sign a world class player who wanted to move to Arsenal, knows the club, the players, the fans. What a stuff up!!

Why has Maureen made us look stupid ?
Barcelona made Fabregas available for transfer,Arsenal decided not to activate the buy back clause so Fabregas decided to sign for Chelsea.

Personally I moved on when Fabregas went on strike three years ago.His dream move to his boyhood club where he had DNA obviously went tits up so I won't be shedding any tears for him.

me neither , he had his chance , when the squad was certainly strong enough on paper , with Van Bastard , Nasri etc.

He clearly lost his motivation to play for us ............i wonder where his motivation to play for Chelsea will come from .

he reminds me a lot of Mata ....

He SHOULD be a great addition to a team but .........isnt .....quite .

Cant put my finger on it.

As far as I'm concerned Chelsea have signed a player from Barcelona,as I've already said I stopped caring about what Fabregas says or does when he left.

exactly , he kept bleating about Barca being his " home " .

Well Arsenal should have been his home .
But it wasnt and he fooked off .

My interest in him stopped there and then .

If he was Arsenal , proper Arsenal , he would not contemplate putting a Chelsea shirt on no matter what they offered to pay him .

Imagine if TH14 was in that position ........he would rather retire and never play again than play for a rival London team .

This tells you how much Arsenal means to Senor Fabregas

I agree with Cym and Not PAUL here. Why should we care about Chelsea signing a Barca player in a position we're pretty stacked in at the moment.
We have our own areas to strengthen so let's focus on that

He came close to joining Utd after Barca...
I know they like to talk the big bollocks on derby day but I don't think these rivalries really mean that much to players, unless they happen to play for their childhood team

And another case of plastic fans demanding a twisted sense of "loyalty" from players, while simultaneously showing absolutely no loyalty to players they deem not good enough.

So many were calling for Ramsey to leave when he went through his dry spell. Now that he's playing well, how many would demand loyalty from him that was never shown in return?

Add that to this thread being an example of Arsenal fans going apeshit over not spending £30mil on a player we don't need when there are other areas of the team we desperately DO need players in, and you have an example of why I've grown to hate football over the years. Because the fans are dragging their knuckles on the ground. Hell, if we'd signed Fabregas people would then be calling for Wenger to leave when he didn't sign all the players we did need despite him no longer having £30m of the budget to spend on doing that. He can't win. Morons.

    This ^

We have love for our respective clubs because, for a lot of fans, the club is in our blood.
But players, especially foreign ones, they have no loyalty to any particular English club, why would they?
Its a job to them, they are getting paid to play football, and using that money to support their families, so their loyalties will lie with whichever club wishes to pay them the most. Same as every other profession, if you were offered 2 identical jobs, but one paid an extra 10k per annum more, you would take that one.

In this situation, Cesc's club no longer wanted him, his old club didnt want him, but Chelsea did and were willing to pay him handsomely, you can hardly blame him.

I never begrudged Cesc going to Barca and I honestly think he really wanted to return. Call me naive if you will but I think he loved the club and was probably genuinely hurt by us not taking up the option to buy him. I'm gutted at what I see as a massive missed opportunity. I don't begrudge him choosing Chelsea after we turned him down but it won't make seeing him in that shirt much easier.

In response to Murray's comment about it being £30m out of our budget - HA! Like we're likely to spend even half our rumoured transfer budget. In fact, I also refuse point blank to believe that even were we to spend everything that's available we couldn't still get Cesc, a forward, DM, RB and keeper. I find the feet dragging and constant propaganda with transfers tiresome. Every season (well, the last 8-9) it's the same and every season we're made to look daft. Chelsea have sold a liability and brought in two players who, on paper, should make them comfortable title contenders whereas we're still waiting to start our business because you can't sign anyone until after the World Cup...

I could be proven wrong by the club and we'll sign 3-4 players who make me realise why we didn't move for Cesc but, and call me cynical here, past form suggests we'll do the exact opposite.

What was he supposed to do? Barca clearly don't want him, Arsenal don't want him. So out of loyalty he should just retire? Saying Henry would is bizarre.
