When are some of you guys going to get real. Our defence is OK some times but poor the rest of the time. I know we have had a series of injuries at tyimes but we should have decent quality replacements & rotation so that they are familiar with each others style. Also we need a good defensive coach like Tony Adams to ensure they are well disciplined & keep their shape. If this means we are not quite as attacking then so be it. We concede far too many goals & can't always score enough to get the win.
I'm sure you weren't saying that after the United game. I do like Coquelin but he's so inexperienced the guy is going to have games where he's completely anonymous. That's not what we need at the moment. 47 goals conceded and the nut riders claiming Koscielney to be WORLD CLASS need to have a reality check. We need to sign a top quality centre back sharpish.
Actually after getting a look at Coquelin I have commented how solid he is and how rarely he gives the ball away. I even said before todays game he should be playing in place of Ramsey
almost anybody instead of Ramsey - he lost composure, confidence, energy 10 games ago. A sensible mentor would have rested him for a long spell..... we had replacements. Trust Wenger to load the guy with pressure.
Hence my insistence that Song is NOT good enough for Arsenal Coquelin maybe anonymous sometimes (hardly ever - but I will play along with the doubters) )but he has never put in performances as anonymous or bad as Ramsey has been this season - so Coq should've gone in to the middle. I think Ramsey has a future at Arsenal - I don't think Song does though, I fail to say ANY benefit in him playing for us.
I like Song, he is inconsistant but he's a quality player. I DONT understand why Wenger does'nt revert back to a 4-3-3 though and just play him in the hole (like in 2010). with a 4-2-3-1 he is encouraged to get forward and without Arteta there nobody can cover for him.
I dont want to get rid of wenger. He is top class and way better than almost any replacement. But sometimes I get so annoyed that he fails to realise (since flamini left) that we need someone shielding the back line. Every successful club in world football plays with at least 1 holding player in central midefield except us. We consistantly get hit on the break with ease as we dont have anyone in this position to break up the play. We often push forward 2 full backs and all our midfield. Then we lose possesion and are so wide open that we are easy pickings. Its not just vs weak sides that this costs us. We have a woeful record vs united for this reason. United always just pound us on the break. Then when you add in our weakness vs set pieces....I just never feel like we are solid at the back. Something has to change. Wenger has to realise that we need a holding player. Hopefully when rice leaves he will get someone who can tell him this.
Which again is a reason I scoff at those who say we don't need M'Villa and Verthogen Though I feel if Metresacker wasn't injured we'd have conceded less headers
At the moment it wouldnt matter if we signed Makelle (the second coming) because wenger would probably tell him to get forward.
