The low marks and therefore telling contributions (or lack of) are reflected in those marks. 5.5 only for all three CBs...and a mere 5 for the two guys who were presumably forming a defensive shield in front of them!! More like a string vest than a defensive shield
I have to say, whilst I can acknowledge the quality of the oposition played a part, I thought Mulumbu was the most headless of the defensive chickens. Between Tettey being bang on form and that showing I'm not now surprised at why he has little game time. At times during the game I thought city were playing a very similar game to citeh. City were at times passing it from side to side infornt of citeh which should have been moving the citeh defenders around and creating openings. Citeh were doing this but with great movement from the more advanced players. City struggled to keep up with that citeh movement and citeh capatalised on the space created. Citeh of course were also very precise with their passing, which could not be said of city. But it was the general lack of city movement that left city with little options to hit forward passes to those in city shirts. city players making only isolated runs into the citeh half so that citeh's defenders found it easy to cope. Whereas citeh players were all moving and shifting the city defenders all over the city half and leaving gaps for the citeh players to play their sharp one touch passing to carve city open. Citeh were rather good at it, city not so much so! Bah!
