What does it feel like to concede a wondergoal in the last 3 seconds at home to your bitterest rivals when you are about to be promoted and you are destined for relegation and are in administration?
What's it like to be rooted in the league 1 relegation zone and watching your bitter rivals play in the Premier League?
Just worked out what you meant by this, Herman, after adjusting it slightly. Actually, it felt OK. Gave everyone a thrill didn't it..? After a couple of seasons of Saints being on top or thereabouts, I don't remember really being that nervous about whether we'd be promoted or not. Losing the Championship to Reading was a bit of a disappointment, but I didn't fall, crumpled onto the floor, weeping my heart out either. Think it was more of... oh well, promotion it is. Not the worst of substitute prizes. Of course, now is what is most important.
Yes, I think my fellow Southampton Not606 member has a few memory problems, or he's much younger than I thought. All changed round very quickly, didn't it..?
In recent times Saints have been the team on top. We were in the top league for 27 years and out of PL for 7 years...weren't too many seasons that Pompey had bragging rights in there. And I don't expect them to be higher than us for the next few years. Not daft enough to say never, because things change all the time in football. We just have to hope that we never get in the hands of vultures.
That is quite a clever question as an answer but not the right answer to the question as there is an answer to that question which is: Until someone posts the correct question.
