    Well, not recently anyway, FHB...

Then in 1349 a riot occurred in St John's Church when the Bishop of Wells was visiting. For some time there had been arguments between the townspeople and the clergy over the markets and these boiled over into violence. When the bishop was in the church some people attacked the priests who were with him - a scandalous thing to do in those days.

I remember it well. Most people blamed it on the uncontrolled immigration of foreigners. Bloody Welsh!

Hughes confirms he's going for a 6.0 pointer for his cr*p celebration dance...

    ...the judges disagree.

To be fair, County's Cup final tonight is going ahead. I would've gone along if I hadn't forgotten the Reading match has been canceled.

Cup final followed by a 6 pointer... busy times for Notts

In fairness, Tewks, Ralph of Shrewsbury did turn his back on the diocese of Bath and Wells during the Black Death, preferring to seek haven at his manor in Wiveliscombe. The decision to allow deacons to administer the eucharist, while priests cowered away, was not the best move of his career. The rioting was justified, somewhat.

Read Gasquet's The Great Pestilence for further moot point.

    Google not required. Ha!

I bow to your superior knowledge of medieval ecclesiastical faux pas, PEA.

In fact, I'm rendered completely speechless by it...:emoticon-0127-lipss

    1-0 to the Nottingham side.

Bridgford have been second best so far according to commentary

And it goes to extra time.

Lovely stuff. Wouldn't mind a late enough goal for West Bridgford to seal the tie.

Bridgford win it on penalties. Nottingham were 3-2 up until the last kick of extra time, Bridgford levelled, sent it to penalties. Last penalty of the regulation five each was by County's controversial striker to win the tie - he skied it, and out they go on sudden death.

Good news from a Charlton perspective imo ahead of the six pointer. They played 120 mins, should've won it, in extra time and on penalties, but lose they do. Both the controversial striker and Bishop missed their penalties.

You guys are giving me a hard time about the "six-pointer" between the current top two in the division. But I now realise Charlton have another "six-pointer" on the following Tuesday against Colchester, currently joint third.

With all the other talk in the past week, there's been very little mention of today's six pointer. I'm gonna head down the Lane in an hour or so, hopefully it'll be a good result

As I said on another thread, positive it's going to be a win today - 3-1.

I'm just off to Waddon Road to check on Paulo's Revolution, although just watching his antics is entertainment enough.

In fact, that was just about the only entertainment, barring the goal, McCormack hitting a post and the straight red at the end.

The Revolution is on hold until they can turn some of the neat approach work into goals. Looked very light up front.
