Apparently Everton are on a 16 match unbeaten run, so we have a tough game on our hands this evening. They are managed by the former defender Alan Stubbs and they travelled down yesterday, staying overnight which is unusual at this level. No disrespect to those who have deputised admirably recently, but we do need to see the likes of Luongo, Pritchard etc back from their loan spells and into the starting lineup to boost our chances of progressing.
Miles Smith - Hall - Veljkovic - Fryers Carroll - Luongo - Pritchard Ceballos - Obika - X Subs : Fredericks, Bentaleb, Munns ...
Wasn't sure whether Kane would be considered (hence the "X" ) . I assume you will know the provisional squad very soon now. Anyway, a starting XI akin to mine will be a very serious proposition for Everton, unbeaten run or not.
I doubt you'll be too far out with that lineup and would be a test for any side. It seems a long time ago when Adam Smith last played for this team, but he was training with the squad on Saturday morning so he's obviously part of Sherwood's plans. Mind you, Sherwood does like Barthram so he might stick with him.
Are Kaboul, Huddlestone, Obika and Townsend the only over age players we've used this season? To be honest I hope we don't use over age players(even Obika) the main reason for them to be allowed, I feel is to allow them to gain fitness when out of the team or returning from injury but at this stage that doesn't matter. That or we play Friedel, Holtby and Defoe as they didn't start yesterday
Scott Parker has made a couple of appearances and I am sure Kyle Naugton has played at least one game.
And Livermore too. The Academy can field a "letter of the law" team, and that is still a handful. Obika will probably play because he has lead the line well all season, and Coulthirst has dropped off in form (been a long slog for him this season) .
No, Benny hasn't played. The appearances have come from Archer, Ball, Barthram, Bentaleb, Bostock, Bush, Byrne, Caulker, Carroll, Ceballos, Coulibaly, Coulthirst, Dombaxe, Ekong, Falque, Fredericks, Fryers, Gallifuoco, Gardiner, Hall, Huddlestone, Kane, Kaboul, Livermore, Luongo, Michael-Percil, Miles, Mason, McEvoy, Munns, Naughton, Nicholson, Obika, Onomah, Parrett, Parker, Pritchard, Smith, Stewart, Townsend, Veljkovic, Zapata-Caicdo.
U21 squad: Archer, Miles, Fredericks, Hall, Livermore, Fryers, Veljkovic, Carroll, Bentaleb, Ceballos, Pritchard, Obika, McEvoy, Gallifuoco, Barthram, Nicholson, Stewart.
Anyone got a link for tonight, I cant go, suffering from Mega Lasanga belly (five days now) I smell like an old-peoples home.
1-0. Pritchard puts us into the lead after a poor defensive header from Stokes, who was attempting to deal with a Carroll through ball.
Everton's official twitter feed has noticed the 1882 section: There are a group of Spurs fans chanting passionately in the far corner. They have been singing non-stop since kick-off! Good to hear.
Just realised that Everton have their 30-year-old 2nd choice keeper, Jan Mucha, in goal. 30 caps for Slovakia.
Spurs back in front. Obika nicks the ball off Stokes and buries it into the bottom corner. Well done, Croydon's mate!
