It's good to see one of the main men behind this under 21 squad, Chris Ramsey, being rewarded for his good work by the FA who have appointed him to the coaching staff for the England under 20's for this summers international tournament. Chris, who works very closely with Tim Sherwood and who has been part of our youth set up for a few years now, will assist an ex-Spur Peter Taylor who has also been given a 2 month contract for this tournament.
. Tim's ok, he does have his head up his backside at times, but overall he is ok. But don't start me off on the German......
Chelsea became the first club to qualify for the semi-finals of the NextGen after beating Juventus 4-1 yesterday.
I find these games difficult to watch...no, not in that way!, finding a cheeky channel online that show them, any ideas? I've seen posts before that Eurosport occasionally do, on this occasion an U19 friendly seems more important!
"I've seen posts before that Eurosport occasionally do, on this occasion an U19 friendly seems more important!" Aren't Eurosport supposed to be showing all the QFs ?? Then again, I thought all the QFs were being played mon-thurs this week. As far as Spurs go, the only way to be certain of viewing is to get down to Orient on wednesday.
Latest under 21 league table - Spurs Played 8 Points 19 Man U Played 8 Points 15 Liverpool Played 7 Points 11 W Ham Played 9 Points 9 Southampton Played 8 Points Wolves Played 7 Points 8 Arsenal Played 7 Points 7 WBA Played 8 Points 5 The top 3 all qualify for the semi-final along with the winner of a play-off between the winner of group 1 (current leader is Everton) and the winner of group 2 (current leader is Reading).
Get yourself down to the Os, notso (if you can) . Sporting Lisbon are Nextgen pedigree, and the boys could do with the support like they got at WHL for the Barca game.
The Nextgen game is not being shown live on Eurosport tonight. Whether they will show highlights soon after is another story. So get down to the Os with the rest of us, or risking waiting 4 weeks for SpursOfficial to put a highlights clip on youtube.
There was a big piece on the Nextgen in Sundays matchday programme. Reading the article, I was extremely unimpressed to see several references to this game as taking place "this Tuesday". I told the club yesterday that how could they realistically expect a decent crowd this evening if even they got the date wrong in their own official publication. I was politely informed it was due to a "printing error". We may be a PL club on the field, but off it, we're distinctly non-league at times.
Like the (PSV ?? ) Nextgen game that was advertised as being at the Os. And then ended up being at Chigwell. I emailed the Spurs PR the day before for details. 90 mins BEFORE KO, I got a reply saying the game was at Chigwell. Apparently quite a few people had made the trip to the Os that day to discover the match was not being played there. SpursOfficial(****e of the highest order) . This is the primary reason I am here : Spurcat is more ITK on the kids games KOs than all of THFC (jeez) .
I saw on here not long ago, someone had mentioned how poor the updates were for a game on the Spurs Official twitter. It made me smile because quite often the team coach driver takes his son to games with him and it is his lad who often ends up doing the Spurs Official because no-one else can be arsed to do it ! I assumed that his lad was not around for this particular game the poster was moaning about !
On my way to the game now. Will be trying to get seated on the halfway line (not pitch side) . Anyone who is going, look for the man with the evil eyes and the rucksuck with orange / sky blue trim. And keep well clear.
3-5 (AET) . We have baby Bale. And now we have baby ... Gomes. I hope Spurcat was not at the game today. :-D
Just read the match report, shame we went out like that, we seem to concede and score a lot at the lower levels but good sides will punish you when you play like that. Anyone know who Lesniak is? I haven't heard his name before, is he new?
" Anyone know who Lesniak is? I haven't heard his name before, is he new?" Think I have seen his name on the Nextgen team sheets before, but other than that, SC may be more ITK. More concerned about Coulthirst, who was stretchered off at the end. He just seemed to slump to the ground in slow-mo in a heap (a couple of mins earlier he took a knock which stopped the game for a bit) .
Not impressed with Vigouroux then, RDBD? I thought Miles was our keeper at that level? Am I mixing it up with the U21s? Fairly unfamiliar looking line-up, to me and Sporting seem to have a very impressive team. Good luck to them.
