I have to say that although I really enjoy headed goals the one that did it for me was Everton.I suppose there is always an element of luck in football, things that you try hoping that they might come off but which rarely do.It's also a fact that the difference between a simply unstoppable goal and one that comes back of the woodwork is measured in millimetres.

Imagine a hard driven shot against the inside of the right hand post that rolls back along the goal line and hits the left hand post but doesn't go in.If that ball had been one centimetre to the left when it makes contact it ends up in the net.Nobody can judge to that degree,it's like a hole in one at golf, the player is good to get it on the green the rest is serendipitous.

But Holt at Everton really was sublime, the roll back under the foot, the turn for a big man wasn't easy, and then placed in the only spot where nobody could get it.That to me was simply perfection and,IMHO,quite worthy of goal of the month,if not the season. If RVP or Aguero had done it they would still be chattering about THAT goal.

Defoe scored a similar goal for Spurs midweek and they did go on about it.

defoe's goal against west brom was magical. a proper strikers goal. better than holt's in my opinion, although holt's was pretty darn fabulous too and didn't get the credit it deserved (poor defending etc - yes, he got too tight but holt totally did him with his turn and the finish was sublime) <ok>
