Although it is clear that certain sports place different demands on mental effort and football isn't actually that high on the list. It is a stop start game, only lasting 90 minutes with a 15 minute break. Mental acuity doesn't really drop that much over 90 minutes and with a brief rest it is back at maximum levels if a player decides to allocate their attention appropriately. It is clear that physical effort results in a drop in mental acuity, especially as Vo2 max increases, attention drops. in other words very fit players have less of problem with mental effort than lazy fecks.
I think there's more to come from us but clearly aren't playin badly. The defence looks a lot more composed and our midfield is very flexible. Every team we play will have a go at us in a different way, this is why lambert says "we will need everyone" we can look crap because the systems not quite right for the team we are playing The crucial point in all this is Lambert can almost always see what is required, and it usually ends with ruthless Norwich victory. We are doing very well and we'll need a couple of faces to help out. They are on the way! Don't fret peeps
Slightly back on topic. I don't know if it's just me, but whenever I see City playing on TV, they never look as smooth as other teams do when going forward. Yet, it looks a lot different in the flesh, so to speak. Is it because of the different camera angles at CR, is it the size and shape of CR, or is it just me?
I don't know about never, surman's goal against wolves looked pretty smooth. I do agree a bit, I think it's the pace and movement generally, there is often a hesitation which I think is atributable to the nature of the movement of the strikers and attacking midfielders
I rather thought the opposite.I suppose "smoothness" isn't exactly the term I would use for it rather a sort of "snappiness" when it comes to passing and first time balls.City often seem to play spells of passing where the ball seems to ping around from one player to another and they actually look as if they intended it.Teams in the bottom of the table generally look disjointed and less fluent.I have been very favourably impressed so far this season. When we were in the top flight in the 80's and 90's the top teams were never as superior to the rest as the top five are now.
does anyone think it is just a natural thing about watching your own team? I wonder if fans of other clubs (The ones we think look like smooth attacking machines on tv) also think the same whan watching their own side? If you watch a team every week you get to know the strengths and weaknesses of players. When a move breaks down you can often see it happening before it does. I have watched Norwich in several games this season where they have got a decent result and been nervy all the way through because I have thought the oppo look more dangerous than us. In actual fact, their fans probably see a move develop in a certain way and know that nothing will come of it because it is not the way they normally score while I am sat there bricking it as it looks like they might. Just a thought.
I agree the goal Pilkington scored was OK, but i prefer a long range right footed shot..... Must try harder...
