What's happened? Five days ago we had an incredible evening at Anfield that took us to Wembley, for a Cup final. This place was euphoric. Now, it's drifting back to a tone of pending doom again. Apparently no forgiveness to the coach for protecting the fitness of his key players in a squad that lacks depth because we should now be winning both domestic cups. Does the world have that high a degree of "must have" attitudes? FFS people we are 4 weeks from a day out at Wembley!
Sadly for him, some fans will forget all this if we don't win. Personally, I have faith in him being even better next season with a few more players brought in....though he has set the bar high for himself by getting to Wembley.
Not bored yet of it. That must be at least 800 times, and it gets better and better. I still raise my arms aloft when it goes in
I'm not sure that it's wrong to 'forget' in this case Fran. If the season pans out in the worst case, we finish bottom half and runners-up in the cup I'll think that this season has been a pretty big regression. If the best case happens we win the cup and finish 8th or 9th, I'll see it as a minor regression but will be so ecstatic with the cup win that I won't care. There are scenarios in between also. I fully accept others will have different views, and are entitled to them, I just don't fall in the 'let's have a cup run at the expense of 20pts in the league' category if you don't actually win the cup. The five great cup days we've had don't quite balance out the 38 meaningless ones we've got in the league for me, unless we finish the job off.
If we win the cup I won't care as long as we're not relegated! I have no idea where we finished in the league when we won the FA Cup but I will never forget winning the Cup. If we win we've got major silverware and a crack at the Europa League again. If we don't win (and we obviously will) then we will just have to win every game until May.
Just watched it again (3 times). Still not bored. Still get goosebumps. Still lift my arms in the air
Good to hear that Virgil should be fit for the final. I was talking to a good friend who is a life long Chelsea fan who said Vardy did much the same to Hazard last season, costing them their best player for a long stretch, comes as no surprise. Let's hope there is a code in football that allows Vardy his comeuppance. Psychopaths in rugby union get sorted, often with a referee's nod. Lets hope the same applies in P/L football.. It applied when I played.. albeit at a much lesser level.
Well in line with the thread, we are going to Wembley! As taking my dad and 9 year old daughter we've decided that a coach is best option for Sunday afternoon. Have booked it directly with Coliseum as saves £12 between the 4 of us against club offer. Tickets next on Friday!
