Formations do my head in. I think it should be x-y-z, depending on what the opposition is doing and what we want to do. It's all about playing for each other, looking for opportunities, covering for each other, always being available for the pass.

Probably alone on this but as I say this 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 9-0-1 etc really does do my head in, especially when discussed by t**ts on TV.

Sore point there eh Ron. I agree but think every player should know exactly what to do when play breaks down, where and who to cover, but as you say it doesn't need a name, just comptitence

Bugger. Morecambe scored a late goal to deprive us of joint top spot.

2nd will do me. A clean sheet is really good considering the guys at the back haven't played together much.

You can have my commentary for what it's worth!
First half was quite even with Ingram looking a bit indecisive with some balls coming into the box. You can see why Ainsworth wanted more height in the squad as Newport might as well have not had a midfield. Plenty of high balls pumped into our box and the channels. Pierre and Mawson earned their corn and Jombatti and Jacobson also looked composed.
All in all after around 35 mins you would have put money on a 0-0.
Then came the first goal with Murphy running in to power a header into the goal from the left side of the goal. He then went straight over to the minority of Wycombe fans behind the goal to celebrate and got booked for his celebration. The second goal came soon after with Sammy Wood picking up the ball on the left edge of the box, dribbling skilfully past a couple of players and then crossing to PCH for an easy tap in to the net. Looked a really good goal from where we were sitting.
Other highlights in the first half were how well Hayes led the line. The guy looks a real unit and held up the ball superbly.
Second half saw us predictably play on the break with Newport having more possession. However, we never really looked threatened and as the game became stretched towards the end, the likes of PCH started to become a real nuisance on the break. Blooms came on for Kretch, but didn't really impose himself on the game, however the ball did spend most of its time bypassing the midfield.
As you can imagine the Wycombe fans delighted in seeing Sandell getting booked as he started to lose his rag. Zebroski also saw yellow in the first half.
The fans delighted in giving some stick to both ex players and taunted Sandell about his desire to leave us and be a striker....funnily enough he played left back!
There were one or two moments of nervousness but it was surprisingly calm in the away end, with the defensive four looking very solid. There were 6 mins of extra time due to a head injury on Jacobson where he went back to the dressing room for around 6 mins to get stitched up. Ingram also went down for a couple of mins after a hearty challenge took him out. Not sure if he was hurt or just playing for time whilst Jacobson was still off the pitch!
So, went expecting nothing and was pleasantly surprised!

    Player ratings:
Ingram 6 (looked uncertain at times, but then I would wearing a shirt like that)
Jombatti 7 (a crowd pleaser, but possibly a risk taker)
    Pierre 8 (untroubled and dominant)
Mawson 7 (good strong performance after one or two early dicey clearances)
Jacobson 7 (grew in to the game. Looks solid)
Murphy 8 (good goal and one of those players that is really quietly effective)
Kretch 6.5 (drifted out of he game second half)
Wood 8 (his usual hardworking self and great skill for the second goal)
Cowan Hall 8 (pace, skill and was a real nuisance to the opposition)
Hayes 8 (did the Craig role with twice the skill and won nearly everything)
Mclure 6 (ran all day but didn't add a great deal)
