I hope someone is gonna take control, the rudder seems to be broken at present. We need a strong manager and strong captain on the pitch, Although I support the reds through thick and thin I think now is the time to act.
can you tell me is maynard yours i was watching news for last 5 days and i dont think so co your rubbishhhhhh
I wont be celibrating "keeping" Maynard until I see his squiggle on a contract. This is brave from the board, but it could also be the dumbest thing they have done in years, £6m on the table, plus the £2m we paid out could go up in smoke in under 12 months, we cant afford that. If Maynard doesnt extend his contract now we have cut off our nose to spite our face. Get that deal done.
If we would have sold him we would have had constant moaning on here that we have no ambition, selling our best players etc, we need to buy a replacement etc. We couldn't persuade him to sign a contract if he was playing for Leicester could we?
I will take this as a complete lack of confidence in Stead and Pitman then. We wont go down because of a lack of goals, Maynard or no Maynard, we cant stop leaking them. Maynard has played every game so far and we have still been beaten in two, drawn at home and with bottom of the league, and only won one. We could have used the cash to build a team rather than rely on one fella. What if he get injured like he has in 2 of the last 4 seasons? Would relegation really cost us more than £6m? The gates would go up (assuming we were sucsessful in League 1) tickets would never go down, is prize and tv money difference really £6m? Seems expensive.
And Maynard has scored 3 of the 4 goals we have scored. Why would you assume we would be successful in league 1, it took 9 years to get out last time, all players are at risk of injury we cant make assessments on what might happen, and ticket prices are already going down with various offers having to be made to get the gates up. If this board had sold Maynard to Leicester after what they said and we hadn't brought anyone in there would have been hell to pay. As for the £6m we might not have seen it reinvested, its all ifs and buts. What I do know is we have a striker who the pre season favourites pulled out all the stops for, he can score goals out of nothing and 'maybe' we will live to fight another day.
