Strangely, the age question does have much to do with the nature of discussion on here. When we went down to Division One many of 'the young ones' were contemplating suicide at the thought. Those who had been around a while thought 'this isn't our level - it's just a blip'. Sure enough it was. The Lambert years were great, but he wasn't really into building a squad for the future, he wanted to hit and run and that's exactly what he did. We were a stepping stone for his career but what he moved on to was a slippery slope to nowhere, which is pretty much where he is now. I quite like the differences on here, but where some want instant success, others, who have been here over the years, want to build an effective squad which can compete the way we did in the 1990s. We want the same thing, we just see different ways of getting there.
I think I am having a mid life crisis. I still want my team to get promoted and play agains the best players. It's just all the losing that puts me off going through it again.
I can definitely see both sides of the argument. I think it's what happens when you have an older, wiser head.
Also I'm too young too have bothered going to Burton Albion away yet too old to even bother asking Jeeves where Burton is. I used to buy slacks there and they would take them up for me . You don't get that at Top Man its all skinny now.
Hi SN23, I live in Burton-on-Trent to give it its full name. When I moved here back in 1972 it was non-league, now it will provide opposition for us. Burton had two teams in the FL around the time City was formed so not new to the FL. They even built a new stadium a few years back and unlike Colchester did it without being subsidised by the local council. Looking forward to seeing City here next season. It is in Staffordshire, a smaller county than Norfolk but unlike Norfolk with its one FL team, has six, that's right six teams in the PL and FL. WBA, Stoke, Wolves, Walsall, Port Vale and Burton Albion.
Good column in today's EDP by Robin Sainty http://www.pinkun.com/opinion/disfu..._be_part_of_the_norwich_city_family_1_4534844
The other EDP writers with their tuppeny-worth on what went wrong...and how to go about putting it right. http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spor...rwich_city_to_start_looking_forward_1_4535502
Also one of the most complicated Cockney rhyming slangs. "Norwich have gone for a Burton. " Burton on Trent (went) =left the Premier league.
Do you hold the opinion that Ipswich have been better off out of the Premier League for the last decade and a half fifteen (15) years?
I am not at all bothered if Norwich never play in the premiership again. In fact back to back relegation to take us to our actual level of league 1 would probably the best thing that could happen to Norwich. We aren't the people.
