I know you weren't angry and I don't play FIFA Management for the record either I don't know what point you're trying to make now. Of course I'm quick to praise Townsend, he was our best player in the first half and he's an exciting player to watch. He played some very good crosses in today though, not sure what you're talking about in that respect. Welbeck's "tireless running" helped Townsend? You'll be praising him for bringing the Cold War to an end next! What I saw was him do was drift inside everytime and then walk around hoping to get a chance and when the chance came he fluffed it. His runs were too early and he offered little defensively, never covering for Baines because he was too busy strolling around outside the penalty area. Sorry, I think we're in total disagreement here.
Townsend played very well indeed. But I haven't made any comparison of Townsend against Welbeck. I'm simply saying Welbeck played his part in England successfully executing their tactics.
I was depressed for a week after that game, I decided after that I would never let football do that to me again. Since then whatever the result I allow myself no more than an hour to forget it and move on.
We left it late but we are through and I'm happy with 2-0 against difficult opponents. Well done England.
Something funny going on tonight. England win. Scotland win. Wales draw in Belgium. If wellbeck had scored aswell then I would have been freaked out.
Phil Mcnulty said today in the players ratings,Welbeck could well lose his place, when England have a full strengh squad to choose from
Annoyingly, as the play-offs are seeded, we won't have the hilarity of Showpony and Nasri preventing each other from qualifying for the World Cup next summer.
welbeck is utter crap. I can't understand how he's in the squad. That miss where he punted it about 5 yds wide from 5 yds out totally sums him up for me.
Trouble is, if he is replaced by Walcott, with Andros on the left, then we have a few passengers defensively. One think about Wellbeck is that he'll cover a lot of ground, which Walcott doesn't.
I'd like to put Lennon forward if he gets fit and on form, but i'd rather he didn't play for England. Lets be honest, we have no chance of winning so we might aswell run Welbeck, Walcott, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard etc into the ground
Can't believe the stewards allowed an idiot to run around for 90 minutes during the game, the prat was wearing an England shirt with Welbeck on the back so I can only presume they thought he was a player.
If he played for Villa, he wouldn't be - The FA believe the best English players play for the top English clubs, and it's only the "Golden" Generation being pensioned off that has changed this. Andy Cole got 15 England caps, and everyone knew he was crap - but three guesses who he was playing for when he got them?
I just had to nip out, and after coming back and resuming here, I thought as we normally would be, we were talking about Spurs and I thought to myself, who can he mean....Freund?
It's fine for a fan to run on the pitch, or be racist mere inches away from police - but if you're a Spurs fan and you use the "Y" word...
