I don't feel that it's under performance for me. Just like the England RU team beaten by a Country with just over 4m people
That's the harsh thing and the great thing. Every ****ing 4 years. In the process of a few tournaments passing by, kids become adults and adults become grey. To win a World Cup is about peculiar timing but it underscores the need to live and enjoy the journey because the ultimate is so elusive and longitudinal.
Their experience told in the end. But you know what, I have loved this tournament. It was great to see players look like they cared about playing for their country. Too often we have had great individuals who didn't care, you can dislike players and say they aren't good enough but you can't say they didn't give every single bit they had. We had one cleared off the line, Kane missed a chance he usually buries, Lingard had a great chance. So many of that squad will be peaking in 2020 and 2022. Ever since I've watched international football (Since 1998 onwards,) the media and the fans have been so negative towards England. For once let's back these lads and keep this optimism going as this momentum could carry us a long way. So many nations have used a good tournament as a stepping board, let's not let this change go to waste.
My assessment too. I'll need to watch it again, but I think Maguire may have been similarly culpable when they hit the bottom of our post - "sticking to his zone' rather than reading the danger. We were devoid of ideas in the second half in their half too.
It wasn’t a bad point he was making. Saying give players chances at bigger PL clubs. He was referring to Maguire who had played here.
Is this what you're like in real life? Just like a switch, on/off, on/off When we're down or showing signs of weakness - you're there with the knife. When we're up, you're the loyalist supporter that the world has ever seen.
Or the England RL team beaten by New Zealand, a country with just over 4 million with only one professional rugby league team which has to travel to Australia for a game.
Croatia probably doing what Yugoslavia threatened to do in the past - always seemed to have a nifty team. We play every sport - at, more or less, the highest level. Not taking anything away from Croatia (well done to them) but it puts some perspective on it
Modric the difference, they seemed to be fitter some how as well. Second half we went back to the old England style losing the ball and we where playing for pennos from the moment they scored. Kane hasn't looked fit at all since the group stages.
