What are we supposed to think? It seemed clear to me that Brazil was given the game. We dont go a year without some instance of corruption, bribery or match fixing. Maybe he wasnt paid off but with the state of the game under Blatter I dont see how it is crazy to sit back and wonder if we just didnt watch a fixed game.
Referees should have their own 'FIFA'. They should be in charge of referees from all over the world. That way when foreign refs from ****e footballing nations like Korea start building a reputation, the refifa can move them up to a more illustrious league with a higher standard where they can experience real quality football and grow their ability to match. The best refs can then be cherry picked, and if each attending nation to a major tournament has a high quality ref then they can all take one along, but if not then it wouldn't be unfair for nations to miss out taking their ****ty low quality refs in favour of more experienced refs at a high level. Let's be honest, some of the referees at these world cups are hardly fit to referee u-8's Sunday league never mind the World Cup. I'd also question their integrity, I can't imagine a ref in a tin pot league like South Korea, Honduras etc. is earning enough wonga and have enough of a reputation and name for themselves that they just won't get involved in this murkiness. Of course there's always the risk that a top official could be bribed by a nation or bullied by blatter, but I think it's significantly lower than a no mark ref from a third world country. Say we have the Honduran ref penned for the clash with Italy on Saturday, if some Italian went up to him and said "here's £50k, make sure Italy win at any cost" would he even think twice about it?
I listened to a bit on talksport, had to pick the mrs up from work, they thought Jelavic was gash. Offered nothing they said. Personally I can't believe we spent £7m on him. I would say worse signing than jimmy Bullard, but at least Jelavic actually plays.
South American teams on home soil are going to get all sorts of dodgy decisions from inept refs who are a) easily conned and b) looking to please the home crowd / team. Reminds me of the 1978 Argentina world cup where the Argies got every decision going

I got no idea how he let in those 2 goals from play. Penalties go in but how you let a toe poke from that distance beat you short side not to mention how a scuffed shot with no speed gets past you from beyond the box.
I'm a keeper myself so generally give the benefit of the doubt, but the first one showed very poor body positioning when getting down low, he should been able to spring to the side and save that without a doubt. The penalty he did the fist part right and waited for Neymar, but when he went the right way and got his hands to it comfortably there is no way that it should go through him into the goal. The third goal was dreadful, the defender made a far post effort very unlikely so his main focus had to be the near post. He left it obviously open and was beaten from the edge of the box by a toe poke all due to his own mistakes. It was a diabolical performance and he should get just as much blame as the ref from Croatians.
Glad I wasn't the only one fuming watching that game last night. I'm fed up of games being ruined by **** and dodgy decisions, and I've got no time for people who try to justify it by saying things like "It's all part of the drama". No it isn't. **** off and die. This is gonna be the ****test World Cup ever. I hope Brazil lose their next 2 games and go out in the first round, but it clearly won't happen, as they're not allowed to lose. I believe we English noticed what a rotten **** Blatter and his bumlickers were probably over a decade ago, and no one listened. Nice to know the rest of the world is finally catching up. Was interesting listening to the BBC correspondent after the game who lives in Brazil for the past 20 years. He said of cause he cannot say for sure, but for FIFA and early exit from the competition by Brazil would just spark off more protests, and be a PR disaster for FIFA. Make you wonder what the Ref's have been instructed?
I've long since wondered about those very things. The World Cup isn't a competition, it's a money making circus with football as it's side show. The hosts are picked on who can potentially put the most cash in the FIFA execs pockets. The group draw for this World Cup was fixed. That match was fixed. It's a not for profit organisation that has yielded billions in personal salary for all it's executives, and has a billion sitting in the bank doing absolutely **** all. "A reserve" Blatter describes it as. Seeing as FIFA take ALL the money that the World Cup generates, the earlier Brazil go out, the less money they make. It's well within their interests to make sure Brazil win it. Nations should just leave FIFA, rioters should go to their headquarters and just burn, loot, rape and murder. In fact the rioters should go their wearing eye patches and pirate hats pissed up on rum, and just pummel every single FIFA executive to death.
The idea of the hosts being pushed as far into the competition as possible seems very plausible, anyone remember South Korea in 2002? I thought that seemed suspicious then, and I was only 7.
Brazil very lucky IMO, but they were obviously always going to win, and were always going to be given the help if they couldn't manage it properly themselves. That, last night, is also the reason we won't be going far in this tournament, and won't be beating any South American teams on our way. As much as it pains me to say it, play-acting and diving has become a large part of football, and we just don't do it. We're too honest. Falling over with your back to goal and throwing your arms in the air turned a disappointing start for Brazil to a "dream start", and that's just something we wouldn't do. You don't "get given" penalties anymore, you "win" them. And Fred has won that game for Brazil, by falling over. To add insult to injury, that penalty was a dreadful one. He was very lucky to even score it, the 'keeper really should be keeping that out, considering he dived the right way and got both of his hands to it.

neymar should have been sent off, the penalty was a joke. It really pissed me off I'm hoping it improves and the refs get told to do there job properly. Everyone's excitement was starting to build up and that put abit of a downer on it. But still C'MON ENGLAND!
