Southampton and Middlesbrough scored more than us last season in the Championship, never got them anywhere?

Let's face it,this last 8 to qualify is a farce that has turned the tournament into a farce and this farce will probably continue until the last 8.

I can see the round of 32 starting to get interesting but there will still be a fair amount of complete mismatch ties. I think the round of 16 should be fairly typical by that point, the odd surprise package, the odd surprise heavyweight eliminations by that stage but mostly mid and top tier teams.

Wasn’t many other people still up at 1am saying Scotland probably shouldn’t even be there anyway <laugh>

Although I didn’t watch their game so I guess that does rule me out.
As I've already pointed out,it wasn't aimed at you.

I can do no more than point that out and if it still doesn't register there's very little I can (or want) to do about it...

Another problem with this format is that it is pretty unfair. 8 of the group winners get to play a third place team yet 4 of them have to play a 2nd place team. It looks like those 1st v 2nd ties are already set how does that get decided?

At the very least there should be an incentive that the 8 best group winners get to play the third placed sides.

Three things stood out from this game:
(1) Scotland will not win the World Cup
(2) Brazil will not win the World Cup
(3) Brazil could receive a thorough spanking a lá Germany style the further they proceed.

BBC article whilst not calling it out, talks a lot of sense as to why this set up with 3rd place teams is utterly **** for fans, Scotland fans now in limbo for a few days, no idea if they're staying or going home, and if they are staying could be playing in one of 3 different locations. When a tournament is being playd across a continent this just isn't fair or good enough
