I agree, no-one's forced to watch all of it, those who prefer the 'old' format just don't watch until the knockout stages. Pick the odd game out sure, but no-one has to watch them all.

Thought about this a bit, maybe 64 teams and 16 groups of 4, where only group winners proceed. That would add some interest back.
Yep,simple as that but sadly that hasn't filtered through to some people.
The format is fundamentally wrong,everybody knew it was fundamentally wrong before it started,everybody knew that 8 teams would go through who'd finished 3rd.Everybody knew there'd be water breaks,VAR and expensive parking and pints.
Yet,here we have people sitting up to 1am moaning that Scotland are ****e and shouldn't even be in the tournament.Hopefully they exit the tournament by the weekend and DR Congo make up the 8 and we can sit and watch them perform some silky soccer because after all they should be there.
P.S...Steve Clarke is an absolute nob,even the 'sweaties','Jocks',porridge ****(whatever they're labelled) I talk to know that but it's pushing the bounds of reality to think for one minute that he was taking McBurnie and petty as that may be,he picks the squad,not Scotland fans and certainly not English fans.
Hopefully the format takes care of the situation by the weekend and we get to see 16 absolutely belting last '32' games but don't hold your breath for too long.
Why not make it 128 , after all we're supposed to be inclusive and the current format

4 leagues of 32 and the top 16 from each league then go though to the 4 leagues of 16 stage? Of course,we'd probably need to do away with domestic football and possibly make it pay per view but it sounds like a plan.
(Hopefully the football authorities aren't reading this re PPV,because that would probably be the next seismic shift).
As you’re clearly talking about me, I’ve only watched the 2 England games. No interest in the rest of it and limited interest in those 2 either to be fair. This part of the tournament is a complete joke and a waste of everyone’s time.
