that in itself is enough to strip a country of being the host.

    FIFA supports slavery?

That is an absolute joke. What right do they have to request that information?!? Imagine if every time you went to the shop over here you had to hand over your passport, disclose your salary, etc. there'd be an outrage. Yet they wasnt people to willingly give this information away just to be able to have a drink? Disgrace.

Until recently, I thought Qatar was something you coughed up after too many Marlboro on a night out.

Now this tiny country have gotten hold of the biggest sporting event on the planet, thanks to a fat dickhead who I'm completely amazed is not sat in solitary confinement for the next 300,000 years.

Spot on...This has become a total and utter farce now and the top nations should get together, tell Blatter and FIFA to piss off, and then have an alternative world cup in Australia who should have got it in the first place..

Just what I said earlier, except for the Aussie bit, which is a great idea! But EUFA have already taken it up the butt so it's not gonna happen.

EUFA basically funds FIFA, and as was pointed earlier, 80% of the players at the last World Cup played in the Prem, so we provide the funding AND the club-contracted players, so why doesn't EUFA grow a pair, and tell them to **** right off?!!!

Sniffy, EUFA and our own FA have more or less agreed in principle already to the Nov/Dec tournament. Just spineless w*nkers.

I wonder if a withdrawal by UEFA is the reason Platini is keeping quiet right now. Something has to be done to protect the European football network.

    Yep and yep!!

Why should we all suffer because fifa are a bunch of walkers? Tell fifa to stick it up their arses, they make a lot of their money from England (richest league in the world) so why should we suffer?

I was in Qatar in October and ventured to the World Cup Stadium site (what there is of it!)
No-one over there gives a toss about football.. The only way you'd even know the event was happening is that on every corner there is a gadgey selling World Cup replicas.
Wonder what Blatters 'cut' is ?!?

Be interesting if the European leagues didn't change their schedules, what that would do to the event and which players went.

I reckon the PL will instigate a mid winter break system a couple of years before 2020 World Cup, as few managers have been asking for this - then come the WC finals it shouldn't cause any problems or disruption

That makes sense. They'll also probably go down to 18 teams at the same time, for 4 less games each season, allowing for the winter break to be permanent.
