Apologies for the late reply but I do have a life outside of this board. I did read what you’d said and your point was that Pep had improved Stones, when in fact he’s actually changed the way that he plays, which has brought about the improvement.
Looking for clicks, your mean like 99.9% of people doing that. As for near 100% of able bodied people being able to do it.......
Think about what he’s meant to have said. A dead ball. Hit (kick) it. Who do you know that would struggle? If professional players struggle to do that better than most they would never have made it to professional. **** spouted from a less than average pro with a **** record of “hitting a dead ball” competently & an excellent record of turning out & warming benches for ****house clubs.
Prutton seems to try too hard to agree with every viewpoint for me. He makes a good point then rolls back on it constantly depending on which way the wind blows in the room. The general point made by burnsy about set pieces and lack of end product is valid though. The observation about goal contributions needing to come from all over the pitch and not just forwards is also. That said, we are a side still in transition but still should be expecting a top 10 finish - which most would have taken at the start of the season.
Chances and goals from set pieces for us is absolutely atrocious and should quite rightly be called out
Maybe he just does agree, who are you to say that he doesn't. It reflects the views of a good percentage on here. Certainly the discussion on this podcast said everything that concerns me as a supporter of this club.
Because he contradicts himself constantly. He's too often trying to ride both horses for me. You can tell from that discussion who the accomplished broadcaster is. Just make an argument and let others propose the alternate viewpoint.
It's quite obvious to anyone with half a brain what he's saying and that isn't just being able to kick a ball a few yards ffs.
Obvious to you then. Those with a whole brain can see that he’s spouting ****e to create reactions that generate clicks. Nothing more.
OK, so re prutton, why when he was talking about Twine last week was he saying 3 or 4 goals from direct free kicks would be a decent return even for a highly skilled specialist, now he's implyimg everyone and his granny could do it? I can see what he's getting at - a fair proportion should work the keeper or find a man at least, but he's contradicting himself nonetheless.
Direct Free kicks that bring goals is specialist and our "specialists" have been very very poor for a while now. Corners for example I agree with him, any pro should be able to put a decent corner in, beat the first man etc, but again, our corners how been awful for a while. Hopefully Twines improvement brings confidence which in turn brings better set pieces from him
One of the really interesting discussion points was 'can Delap actually head the ball'... I think the net answer was, we dont know because crosses never come in. It went to talk about the simple panic that ensues when a ball is whipped into the box, either at head height or feet. Something we just dont do. I'm watching Spurs/Chelsea apples and pears obviously but both teams are doing everything to get crosses in from wide and at pace Spurs even down to 10..
