There seems a real groundswell of opinion against LM. Tbh I think he needs more time but it seems I'm in the minority and have a feeling he'll be gone before the season end.
You are not in a minority RP of course the guy needs time, I suggest we see the season out, 8 more games left, it would be insane for a panic move now, the two tweedles need to show some leadership and give support to their man of choice, he is standing all alone, it's pathetic.
I’ve no idea which opinion is the minority one. There’s certainly a group of unhappy campers that booed at both our last two games. He has to start winning games, if he doesn’t the pressure will grow. I hope we start to win games and therefore he stays, but if we don’t I can’t see him staying.
Can I just remind the “Nige Lovers”, on social media and comments on bbc sport match reports, in the last 3 months of his reign after a defeat, nearly all the comments were “Pearson out” he doesn’t know what he’s doing, had enough of the negative football.. if anyone thinks I’m spouting BS, be my guest and check it out.. Try Bristol City FC on Facebook NB I wasn’t one of them but to say there was not unrest before he left are delusional
The way I see it we may as well stick For now Results and performances under Manning aside from about 3 have been rubbish But Tinnion and Lansdown won’t bring in anyone better, more experienced or with a good CV So why bother ?
I think Nige eventually got the best out of our players ( why we were so poor defensively for so long given his experience I can't understand ) However to think he was ever taking us up is delusional and had reached a ceiling. He had the same problem as LM in that the quality of our players is not good enough to get promotion vs the sides with parachute payments. The style of play LM wants needs players of an even higher quality. So it's cheque book out time JL and LM should be backed. I do think there may be a longer term plan with Bird and the lad from Ireland signed for next season. However I firmly believe when we get James back our results will improve.
We seem to live a life of future prospects and false promises from our management team but rarely, if ever, come close to meeting the targets stated by them. How on earth anybody could claim that we will be a challenger based on our less than satisfactory hiring practices is absolutely mind blowing in it's self centred stupidity. Until such time as JL and BT vanish from the scene of this mayhem nothing has a chance of changing because they both believe they can do no wrong, and again that is madness in the extreme. The seasons since the Ashton Vale fiasco when we allowed dog walkers to rule the day the belief that our beloved Bristol City were going to rise from the ashes and surprise the entire football world have crashed to the ground in flames and apathy. I am starting to believe that the sports empire intended to be Steve Lansdown's legacy, along with a sparkling new stadium bearing his name in lights, has been a key factor in all of the nonsense that has transpired since those long ago days. Surely but surely if you have an entity that you want to go to the top of whatever then you go out and hire the best people to help you achieve that particular target, but oh no we go out and hire second bests in both managers and players and expect miracles to happen. Clearly no miracle is going to happen in BS3 as long as this dereliction of duty continues at the hands of the Lansdowns and frankly I can only see more dissatisfaction coming down the pipe in the near future. If Steve Lansdown had any balls he would fire all the top brass including his son and BT as soon as this season is mathematically safe and start the real process of hiring a top class manager and give that person reasonable freedom to select his players. A clear out of the players who have proven beyond the new manager's doubt that they are not up to par for a Championship challenge should be shown the door and replaced with newbies who have been there and done that in their careers. However I remember that scenario when Steve Coppell arrived only to vanish into the hills the minute he found out that SL was a man of devious ways and less than supportive than is necessary. Perhaps the time has come where we need to look overseas for the new football boss (anywhere but Iceland I guess) because the homegrown talent has not met the mandate we as supporters expect. The opportunities we have had to change our fortunes have come and gone without any sign of progress and that is solely down to the senseless lack of business acumen from the prawn sandwich lot in their bubble.
Steve Lansdown - I don’t know him personally - but he comes across as a controlling boss. Apparently he fired someone from Hargreaves Lansdown on the spot for moaning about cyclists. He is used to getting his own way and getting rid of anyone who challenges him or his way of doing things. That’s great when their methods and processes work - as they do very handsomely in Financial Services - but these big egos’s downfall is that they don’t admit when they are wrong and change their approach. They surround themselves with ‘yes’ men who they simply blame/fire when things don’t work out - as it’s clearly THEIR fault for failing to make the perfect Lansdown model work. It’s not been ALL bad - we’ve benefited from his money - but it’s been VERY conditional and without allowing his managers the freedom to do their jobs and recruit who they want. Of course there is a limited amount of money available - and FFP also needs consideration. Also, footballers are human - some will gel into a system and others won’t. But, after years and years and years of SLs reign I would have expected maybe just 1 season in the Prem? The fact we have not achieved that under successive managers must indicate that maybe the issue lies higher up the chain?
If we dropped into the bottom 3 then yes, I’d give Warnock a go. I don’t like his football but he is probably the most effective manager EVER in managing teams in the Championship - at both ends of the table. The man is a genius at this level. I just don’t think we are at the stage quite yet where we need him.
