As a neutral a draw was probably a fair result. A truly terrible game, especially the first half. Both sets of players looked like they had had to much turkey and Christmas pud.
Yeah it was a crap game. And we were so slow for most of the game. Thought we just about did enough to win it in the end, but Mike Dean pops up with one of his ****tard decisions once again
The annoying thing is, you just know Wenger is going to point his finger at Mike Dean for us not winning today. Of course, it has absolutely nothing to do with our sideways passing, lack of inventiveness, slow build-up play and inability to take chances... Today's display was the perfect example of why we are struggling to make the top 4 and why teams towards the bottom employ similar tactics to get points off us. And it works almost every damn time. Relying on individual bits of magic from star players, that are going to leave soon, masks the underlying problems we have.
While, I agree we did not play the best today, I thought we did enough to get the win. We were 1-0 up with 3 minutes to go and I wouldn't say WBA were exactly threatening. One of the rare occurrences that I actually look at a refereeing decision as having a huge impact on the result of a game.
Rapidly becoming also ran's in football terms, but then we all know that's not what counts at this club.
Really? For 80 or so odd minutes, I thought we were bereft of ideas, struggled to break them down and kept trying the same way of breaching their defence, despite it continuously not changing anything. Sanchez's neat footwork won the free-kick and it was his shot that led to the goal. He was the only player (possibly alongside Wilshere) that took the game by the scruff of the neck and tried to make things happen. Apart from that, we were too passive in possession and looked a little shaky whenever they came forward. We dealt with their long balls and crosses relatively well, but there wasn't enough going forward to win the game. We can point to the referee all we want, but that incident should never have been the deciding factor of the match.
We were poor, but I agree that we did just enough to win that game. Dean cost us 2 points in the end.
Unfortunately, that is typical of our performances when Ozil isn't in the side. Dreadful decision from Dean as well. The scandal really is that he is a half decent referee in most games, but just saves his worst decisions for Arsenal.
and he gave you some decent decisions against the match against the spuds. (yes you battered them and probably would have won easily but your goals came from 1 offside and non foul and arguably a 2nd offiside).
Kevin Friend and Mike Jones have given you an 80% win rate. Are they cheating Arsenal fans or are you just confusing random differences with bias?
I think there is some evidence that they are mildly biased towards the bigger clubs but almost all their errors are just mistakes, no more and no less.
I think Dean is biased towards himself. He just loves to see his name in the match headlines. I bet he gives it large when chatting with his friend (imaginary).
