I think it's been overlooked after the most exciting 19 minutes that has ever been experienced by anyone, anywhere, ever. But Routledge scored another cracker last night. That's his second in four games since returning to QPR, and it's not just the goals but the nature of them; ruthless, clinical takes that any striker in the world would be proud of, yesterday's he burst in behind their defence, didn't even take a touch just lashed it early from twenty yards across the keeper.

My thinking is that with Carroll and Xisco gone, Ameobi injured and now it looks as if Best is out as well that it might be worth bringing him back as a striker. If we let him go without a recall clause and no replacement lined up we've been incredibly foolish. He must have a clause and if he doesn't I'm sure we could arrange some sort of compensation for QPR (who look a shoe in for promotion anyway) to send him back.

I'd rather give him a chance up front than sign someone like Aliadiere, and he is already our player after all. Here are his two goals so far:

Difference is we don't play Coventry and Reading in the Premier League

Aliadiere couldn't even get it done against Coventry and Reading though. Luque's name has been bandied about as well but I think Routledge would be the better option, I'd rather bring him back than Xisco (partly because I think Routledge is better, partly because we really need Xisco off the books and if he impresses out there we might be able to sell). Are we really going to find someone better than Routledge who is currently unattached? We need someone in, we only have Lovenkrands and Ranger (assuming Best is out for a while, didn't actually see what happened to him?) who have two goals between them this season.

Also, the biggest criticism of Routledge was his inability to cross, won't be a problem if he's playing up front. And he almost scored a snap-volley against Chelsea which took an uncommon piece of brilliance from Cole to keep out.

I'm not saying we should by Aliadiere, lord no. Just saying that routledge's QPR form is no proof that he could be the answer to our prayers. The lad has had chance after chance in this league and just hasnt made the grade.

But you agree we do need someone? I'm not saying Routledge will definitely be able to do a job, but in my eyes he's the best we have available to us. If the transfer window was still open I wouldn't be suggesting this, but it isn't, and all we have left is the dregs who no other clubs want, or loan recalls.

We all see the point your making AG but the lad isn't a natural striker is he?

He's also very inconsistent at Premier League level and seems to be found out wanting, Luque might not be the answer but he's got great technical ability, something which none of our current strikers have, Aliadiere is OK as short-term cover until the end of the season.

Rou has pace, decent finisher(Championship level) and quite skillful but lacks a end product and seems to be more cautious in his game at Premier League level, he simply isn't the one to suddenly strike fear into CB's is he? He's too weak to play as a striker, I like the idea though just don't see it happening unfortunately.
