? Who was suggesting you have to be intelligent to play football?
Sorry, but didn't you agree their were different types of intelligence other than academic?
I think you posted different examples of facts?
Id say peoples behavior (as you suggested) is exactly what a footballer assesses and act upon when making his judgement? Knowing what a given person id most likely to do at any given time is a direct example of your suggested weighing up / assessing facts (people relative positions and movements on a given point in time on a sports pitch and making decisions what to do based on them..or am i reading your post wrong?
With regard to Steven hawking..You said the seriously bright have both the academic and emotional abilities.
Now to me, I view Steven hawkins as seriously bright. i just don't see him judging Wayne Rooneys (and the oppos) position, direction of movement, velocity and known mental state..and then crossing the ball right onto his noggin...do you?
like I said, i honestly believe football or more likely "sportsmen & women" have a different form of intelligence,
To add to that Stan, I've lost count of the number of graduates i've worked alongside or for that can quotes theories and ideas from books but simply have no common sense. I'm yet to decide if these guys are intelligent or just parrots?
One of the most intelligent people i know (apart from yourself!) is being groomed for the CEO at "A Major Company" Europe. He has an intelligence i could only dream of and is knowledgeable in just about everything. But he's of Italian decent and could not describe the tactics or even how to play a game of football if you asked him !
great bloke to know though
EDIT" I should add that his father was a "pro" at Venice.
I could of course be totally wrong though
