I'm tempted to say he did that when he joined City!!

Well done Bridgey, he was an excellent player for us and then for Chelsea too. I remember his free-kick for us against Wimbledon but his stand out goal for me was the one that knocked the Gooners out of the Champions league in the quarter finals.

I kinda forgot he was still playing to be honest.

A very good player for us back in the day. I didn't mind so much when he went to Chelsea and I certainly felt for him that when Cole was brought in and he was out the team from then on. Of course there was the whole Bridge-Terry scandal that then marred any football related achievements. I lost a lot of respect when he refused to leave City too and elected to benchwarm instead.

On a positive note - he married a Saturday and I enjoyed his celebration for Chelsea when he scored against the skates.

Would say I am sorry to see him retire because of his knee. But when he has Frankie from The Saturdays at home I don't think he will mind much. :p

Good lad Bridgey, if not the sharpest tool in the box at times (don't mean penalty area)

Was never sure if he actually over-achieved in his career. He was good for us, but Marsden often covered up his mistakes.

He was a great player for us, but his career never really hit the dizzying heights expected. I would hold him up as a warning to Luke Shaw, that moves to so called big clubs might make you money, but are no guarantee of a worthwhile career!

Seemed more than happy sitting on the bench, collecting massive (even by football standards) pay cheques.

Probably the best reserve left back that ever was.

I'd be surprised if anyone can point out another ex saint who went on to amass a more impressive combination of medals, England caps & wages...

Winning the League
Winning the FA Cup
Winning the League Cup
36 England caps

Not a worthwhile career?!?
