Absolutely. It's why we've ended up with such a poor situation, when better solutions would have been more effective and easier to implement. (Assuming atmosphere alone was the criteria).
I think it's a great idea Peter. About time in my opinion home fans should have been behind both goals from Day one I see this as a chance for ALL the singer's to get together in the North Stand rather then be spread out in pockets here and there I'm told that season pass sales have been going well for the North Stand which is good and I reckon it will be full up as near as dam it Dmd doesn't like the idea but he doesn't have to move if he doesn't want to move being in e4 I don't see this as an Allam led thing either with this move been applied for a few times before AA had anything to do with the club
E3. Although there were a lot of spaces in E4 as people moved due to the decision plonking away fans, police and stewards next to them. A fair few of those that were around us have walked away from the club, with this being a significant reason. You never liked behind the goal enough to do it in the decade you had the opportunity. That aside, there was room to accommodate differing views had it been handled better and the decision been better informed.
How do you expand the number of singers once the North Stand is rocking? The only way is West, the road East has a road block, being the away fans. Some people may well be content with a smallish kop but the club, either unintentionally or intentionally, has created a singing ghetto. In the short term it may not have much impact, but in the longer term....... who knows.
Doesn't have to be. At Man City the two vocal sections are separated by the away fans, doesn't stop them singing.
So how many singers have moved from E4 upwards into the North Stand? For singers to be effective you need recognised sections, will the rest of the East Stand take up the mantle left by the singing section E1 to E3? On last season's evidence it is doubtful, but I'm ever the optimist. Peter, stadium expansion will happen when Assem Allam starts talking to the council. I see no reason, financially, for him to do so for a few more years yet.
The south stand is for family's I couldn't have gone in the South Stand because I would have got thrown out for standing and I have been known to shout the odd curse word at the ref / linesman I went in e3 then e1 with the singer's but always hoped we would one day all move behind the goal. If e1e2e3. Had not moved I wouldn't have, though I would have tried to get 3 seats together back in e3
E3 was the family stand for probably four years or more. The south was what Adam Pearson wanted as a singing area but fans objected, preferring the east stand.
That is the only logical decision, having general sale tickets and therefore probably empty seats between the singers and away fans is a farce
For eleven years the club advised fan groups that they wanted away fans in the North East corner. I am not aware of any fan group who were advised it was happening for this season, nor any fan group that were advised of any precise details of what was happening at any time. I found out about this when a planning application went in for a new entrance, when did you find out and which fans do you know who were consulted?
I guess it depends on which version of 'fans groups' is being considered, it is quite fluid at times from my experience. Do you believe Assam woke up one morning and decided this all alone? Would several independent individuals count as a group? It's unfortunate that some in the fans group thought it a good idea and ignored the comments of those that disagreed. Some almost shouted their support, others simply defended the move. Then, it is a single issue group. I wonder what it was before that single issue. At the end of the day, it's done. As I said, it's been revealing.
You seem to have answered different questions to the one's I asked. Do you know of anyone who was consulted about moving the away fans for this season and if so, who? I am aware of no-one who new this was actually happening, until after the works had already commenced. CTWD has never done anything other than campaign against a name change, in the future they may do, but to date, they've dealt with nothing other than opposing a name change.
