    It’s easy
Like Labour, they said one thing and then did nothing about it
If this was reversed, there is no way France would accept boats full of nameless and undocumented young men getting off at Calais
They’d stop them before they entered French waters.

    here is tentative example
I say lets build something here and you say No thats not where to build it, but you dont say where to or how and we dont vote on it although there are a number of bystanders who could sway the verdict but no time to organise that.
So we leave it at that and a while later you say building it there wont work we say OK what is the alternative. you dont give one . we make fine tune tweaks and start to make first efforts .. you say you cant do that wont work and wont give an alternative. after a few years it all gets put in place and you are pizzed off with it having happened and are now in my seat, and a couple days after gaining my position you scrap it..

why scrap it? it is all paid for and there are 1000+ lined up to go ... planes fueled everything in place all paid for ........... . I guess if it worked you would have been the sour loser ... so just in case, you decided not to take a chance on that ...... and a week or less you binned it

now today we see of the the biggest back pedals of all time he dropped a few clangers in his speech ... intimated they are the benefactors of a couple things done [ previous .gov things still carrying over ] BUT biggest IS THE SPIN ... ALL WHAT WE PROMISED A LOAD OF OVER RAMPED ideas ... now we can resay it as " yes we promised 1,500,000 homes thats not been achieved for decades" ...[ warning warning ] it has never been achieved before 23 - 24 with days to go 221,000 SO FAR completed from tories in power. YES HE SAYS, WE HAVE OVERSTATED to make it seem as though the past was crap.. but if we get close the public might think we have done well

Another "slip" was in the GE build up we will need put aside £8bn for GBE TODAY he said this now up and running .. and already paying windfarms £1bn not to generate power ....... uum that makes Labour thinking sense!

BEFORE TO DAY WE HAD A .GOV COLLANDER, SAY ITS WAS "SIZE SMALL" ON JULY 11TH, Come December 2nd it had become "SIZE MEDIUM" ... TODAY IT STANDS AT "SIZE LARGE "..

Firstly I don’t accept it was ready to go, if it was then why call the election when they did, they’d have held out a few months to get it over the line, then they could have argued despite opposition they’d delivered on getting it up and running. Also it would have very hard for labour to stop it.

But for the sake of argument if we accept your suggestion that it was ready to go, why did it take them 14 years to achieve it. Every manifesto since Cameron has been promising to get stop it. It was Cameron that promised to bring the levels to the 10’s of thousands. That’s all those years of failed promises on an issue that is close to the hearts of many conservative voters. Why ?? They’ve had reasonable majorities so you really can’t blame Labour.

Well read the Labour take on it they say a wasted £900m and made up of the figures all added together and the costs paid out for each part thereof so they abandoned something that was paid for and would have gotten rid of over 1000 to Rwanda ..they couldnt afford to take the risk as they wanted to make it seem everything after July 4th was "LABOUR THINKING AND LABOUR IDEA" THEY, thats Labour wasted £300m + of that £900m if not more [ cant find their article with the costings at the mo! ]
no deterrent other than we will smash the gangs so gangs go into overdrive and "export" as many as possible in case they get stopped!!!!! .. there is around 2000 waiting there in France to cross in next couple of weeks! 289 YESTERDAY.. but remember the figure published are the known ones... does not include via transport on ferry or tunnel or the daily number dropped off by craft in the middle of the night....

you got your answer," you stated didnt need labour to do it " and/as they were anti every idea, tories got on with sorting it. Unlike labour they..........

............. "NEVER ADOPTED AN ATTITUDE OF IT NEEDS TO BE DONE IN 10 MINS THEY PUT IT TOGETHER OVER A COUPLE OF YEARS AND IT WAS READY JULY 2024 "........

................SO it was ready in 2024 all up front and paid for, and crossings were going down [pro rata ] and severely down on the previous year's

NOTES ... from 2010 to 2015 the biggest problem for .gov was hands were tied by the massive sorry MASSIVE blackhole Labour had left £xxx+ bns in debt and loans [ not a piddly £xxbn of unsuported by fiscal know alls ] and the crossings [ pre 2016 - 2018 ] were mainly in lorries or odd 6 seater inflatables
from 2016 to 2019 ECONOMY WAS ON THE UP AND CROSSINGS STARTED TO ACCELERATE AS BOAT SIZES WERE IN THE 20's
2020 t0 2022/23 was Covid and the energy crisis with boat crossings starting to get silly and a plan had to be made to reduce or stop them boats were now carrying up to 70 . AT NO TIME during those 14 years were LABOUR as opposition any help a party without sensible workable plans

I don’t accept it was ready, no one went. However I’ll try another way. Why have they been promising to do it since 2010 and failed until 2024?, and don’t say it was labours fault, as they had majority governments for much of that time.

A WEEK BEFORE THEY DUE TO TAKE OFF!

This discussion cuts two ways, you are correct the Conservatives had 14 years of government and failed dismally, the Labour party had 14 years as an opposition to develop policy and create answers, they came up with, do you remember a committed manifesto full of promises which would be - 'Fully funded and Fully costed'...

Within 5 months they have lied to Pensioners, Farmers , Small and Large Businesses, twisted their word on National Insurance increases and raised the national tax and borrowing burden. Starmer and his rotten crew cannot be believed or trusted

So why call the election early? If it was that close they’d have stayed until it had started .

Not a great start, but, and it’s a big but, whoever took over this time had a real mess to clear up, a mess of the previous governments making. It was going to be tough, and a lot of noses were going to be put out of joint.

The lot that got kicked out, as you rightly said deserved to go. Boris , Liz Truss, constant infighting, imagine what they’d be like. They had their opportunity and despite what JGF will have you believe they made a right mess of everything, now we have to let this lot have a go. 5 months is too short a time to make a construction judgement, give it time, they’ve earned it.

you missed out the hindsight bit which was the review of what that said and did in the first 5 months being redressed as mutton instead of lamb!

I cant totally agree with this, when you have an almost £1 ,700,000,000,000 unexpected cost not of your doing as opposed to £20,000,000,000 [I will put the on top of each other to see the difference] then you cant say they failed dismally
to have left just an arbitary £9bn blackhhole! just 3 month's into a 12 month fiscal year! thats not dismal

    £01 ,700,000,000,000
    £20,000,000,000 =
    £01,680, 000,000,000 difference so far

Railways knackered, immigration failed to reach targets for 14 consecutive years, sewers knackered, NHS knackered, care system knackered, prisons knackered. That’s just off the top of my head in less than a minute. Yet you still can’t admit they messed up,

the cases of Garry Kay and Rosie Hudson................... parking .. "pcns" ... on private land ... the latest scam! ............. 5 minutes!!! for £100 and still you still have to pay!
    [ bbc news page ]
I may have mentioned on here a few times in the past my experiences of PCN's have had about 6 and paid nothing. Used to belong to an organization called BTST, and they gave weekly newsletters regarding motoring "problems " and you had the free access to a solicitor!

PCN's and what to do about them came from a solicitor ...might have been as high as a QC BACK AROUND 2001. HE IGNORED IT and it got into the £200's or more and he allowed them to take it to court. HE DIDNT AT ANY TIME REVEAL HIS JOB!
In the court case he made the costs for the parking company's representative sky rocket, they initially were "sueing" him for the fine and court costs and etc's eventually the final day of reckoning came he had his moment... the judge stated that their request for charges /expenses were denied ,,,[ in either direction I believe" . the judge then found there was no case to answer because the car park at the time had plenty parking spaces and he was not denying any other motorist from a parking spot. he also stated that "blackmail" was not part of the case and that by stating unless you pay up or pay less within x days we will ...... [ and there were a list of "threats.. baliff's / credit rating/ etc's ]

My worst amount "threatened" was about £290 ish from BRI in Bristol! .... 3 from motorway services .... over stays of up to 1 hour! [ all at night ] and did have a couple of others on smaller plots... the template letter was usually the last thing I sent! [ or a close draught of it ] it stated after basically ...see you in court .............. they never did!

David Lammy has put his foot in it again.

Addressing parliament on Monday, Britain's Foreign Secretary weighed in on the fall of President Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria.
Going toe to toe with his Conservative counterpart, Lammy claimed that Libya was "next door" to Syria.
He said: "Having just come back from the region, I am sure that she will have heard Gulf allies raise the issue of Captagon and illegal drugs that also propped up Assad’s regime and flooded into Gulf countries. We continue to monitor that. None of us wants Syria to become like Libya next door – fractured and vulnerable to different terrorist groups. We will do all we can."

Sure, Syria practically borders Libya...if you remove the several countries that separate them.
The shortest straight-line (as the crow flies) distance between Syria, which is in the Middle East, and Libya, which is in North Africa, is over 1,000 miles, depending on the exact points chosen.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Lammy has made a blunder. Here are our top five moments......................

“Trump is not only a woman-hating, neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath,” Lammy wrote in an article for TIME magazine in 2018, adding: “He is also a profound threat to the international order that has been the foundation of Western progress for so long.”

When asked who succeeded Henry VIII to the English throne on the BBC's "Celebrity Mastermind" back in 2009, Lammy replied: "Henry VII."
He also mistakenly claimed that Marie Antoinette won the Nobel Prize for physics - not Marie Curie.

in TOTTENHAM ..He stated: "It feels like neighbourhood policing has vanished, it's not around you. We haven’t seen police in a while and I’ve been here for quite a while now."
However, unbeknownst to Lammy, there was a police officer in bright hi-vis gear standing a few meters behind him in the shot.
Naturally, the media had a field day. Social media platforms, particularly X (then Twitter), also took aim at the Labour MP, with the hashtag "#He's behind you" trending.

The Foreign Secretary found himself at the heart of a diplomatic crisis in September when he wrote on Substack: "The states of Central Asia look increasingly east and south. Azerbaijan has been able to liberate territory it lost in the early 1990s. Georgia and Moldova are engaging with Nato and [the] EU."
This sparked outrage as "liberation" implies freedom from oppression.
Critics were quick to point out that this ignores the humanitarian crisis that followed Azerbaijan's military actions, which were widely viewed as a form of ethnic cleansing.
Scholars and politicians piled in on Lammy. Professor Mark Movsesian said at the time:
......"The Foreign Secretary's reference to Azerbaijan's 'liberation' of Nagorno-Karabakh is shockingly callous and ignorant."In fact, exactly a year ago, Baku ethnically cleansed the region of its 120,000 Christian Armenian inhabitants in violation of an order from the International Court of Justice."

THE FITH ONE is to do with banning arms to israel because food trucks were being banned .. turned out ISRAEL STOPPED THEM BECAUSE hAMAS WERE RAIDING THEM AND STEALING THE FOOD

prior to the PMQ's ...which again was so boring and a PM that has a bit of a shady history! usual preset Q'S from Labour MP's ... answers read of his script sheet! .... the pre cursor programme on the BEEB had phone ins and discussions.
the gem had to be the Labour representative who gave the response, when asked regarding the Farmers protest in WHITEHALL and he stated .." well the last they were really proper farmers were they"... a fellow panelist quickly retorted "what? there was over a 150 tractors and other things" ........ oh how we doomed ourselves with donating the job of PM to such a load of non descripts who have very little knowledge of the outside world [ thats outside their little bubble ]
