Really not bothered about teams, I always think if your putting in the performances all over the pitch the results will take care of themselves. I have no problem with the players, the squad is excellent, but I do believe the style of play is predictable, easy to play against and holding us back.
Sure, I get it, and I don't disagree. Definitely certain things could be improved. But, if we played another way, there would likely be just as many different issues that arise from playing that particular style too. Very few teams get it totally perfect, especially at this level.
Also, let's not forget Watford were relegated only the season before us, and are still receiving parachute payments themselves. They're still a 'big' club by Champ standards, at the moment.
We might be and if we get promoted do you think this style of slow turgid football will prevent us from being straight relegated. I was looking at the stats and after 25 minutes we had had 70 percent possession. Do you know how many shots we had had in that time. Not on target but actual shots. I couldn’t believe it it was a big fat zero. That is pathetic
I’ve said before that I can’t see his style working in a league where he doesn’t have one of the best teams. So no I can’t see it working in the PL at all, and with a full season of him in the prem I think we would do worse than last year. No idea if he would acknowledge this f we were to go up and adjust, we will cross that bridge if we get to it.
I am somewhat sceptical that RM's style of football will get us through the playoffs, which is our most likely route to regaining EPL status. I think top-two is currently beyond our capabilities as we struggle to score sufficient goals in matches when we have periods of dominance.
I'm not sure the style of football will have too much impact in the outcome of the play-offs. It's knock-out football rather than league football. So much comes down to who performs better on the day. But if we were to win the play-offs, I don't see Martin keeping us in the PL with his style of play. His best chance - maybe his only chance - of still being our manager this time next year is probably to lose the play-offs, and then have us sitting in the automatic promotions places next season. (And with smaller parachute money, and presumably a weaker squad, that won't be easy - albeit the sides coming down to replace Leicester won't be as strong, which will help)
Not sure if you are trying to shame me or highlight how far we have come. I hated watching us play early this season but Southampton have massively improved. I still feel we don't always create as much as we should from our dominance.
Perhaps your dig was poorly timed - we seem to have had a tough February since! Never get too confident!
