nervy stuff. Think you have summed it up well nz. To be honest I'd take the point now if it was on offer.
lol but nine points from 7. And still we haven't played any of my relegation teams so not unhappy. Cheers one and all.
Bah?? You having a go at me Seriously though... beaten by Palace again by a Pen Nothing in it.... they were more skilful... we were strong though...
Palace had the edge on us and we were just to light weight going forward never really troubled them except the two free kicks. We could have done with a runner coming from midfielder with pace on to a ball if the forwards could have held it up and played him in.
Like the play-off final. Palace were very organised and had us at arms length. Poor in attack with no real spark. Topped off by the cheap pen given away - we struggled against their pace all game.
Unlucky 'orns , uncanny the similarity with the game at Wembley for the goal but swiftly moving on,thought the game overall was tight, our midfield was not at its best again but had enough to stop the supply to your strikers, plenty of tasty tackles going in and a few late ones but as the game went on I think we just shaded it (I hate clichés). Another day and Cabaye or Abdi could have gone, our centre backs did well against the aerial bombardment towards the end but I think you'll be ok,there are games like today where they'll go for you,in the Prem you have to ride your luck at times (just ask Canary Dave..) and if the free kick hadn't hit the bar we might be talking about a narrow home win. The return match is on Feb 13th,someone is going to have a miserable Valentines . Been good to see some of the 'ol 606ers still going strong here, pass my regards to Ak,OFH et all and keep the faith, you'll be fine.
Yes you shaded it by a few inches! Ak is around OFH is in the UK at the mo. Good luck of the season ad do play like that against all the clubs below us!
If the referee got his cards out when he should have it might have been different. in boxing terms we were kept at bay with the palace jab and ultimately lost on a cut. Disappointed but not downhearted. Arguably the better team won but a draw would have been fair. Different tactics required at home. One goal in four tells it like it is.
I think a draw would have been a fair result, but Palace had done their homework well and kept the front 2 quiet and were very fast getting forward. But it's great to see some of the so called "smaller" clubs holding their own and palying good football in the Prem. For another reason, I am very much looking forward to the return fixture. All will be revealed!
Anya should have been switched earlier, either at half time or when Saha came on. Nyom had a torrid time and now looks vulnerable to pace. I'm still not sure the referee knew for certain whether it was inside or out. In which case I'm not sure he can give it, regardless of what the replay subsequently shows. TBH, I thought he was very, very poor and should have clamped down on CP's antics far sooner. All in all very disappointing, despite being only a penalty kick worse than Palarse.
We were playing balls to Ighalo that you would expect us to play to Deeney, and there seemed to be little support from the midfield. Watson had a quiet match, not the sort of game which will make QSF keep him in the team when Behrami is available again. If Flores had seen what the cameras showed a couple of minutes before the pen, Nyom would've been taken off then. I think Anya as left back doesn't do Jurado any favours as he hardly had the ball when he was on the left but did show some class when moved to the right. Some work needs doing on set-pieces from wide positions as those weren't good enough.
One thing we should thank Crystal Palace for is that without the play-off loss and the way their supporters totaly dominated Wembley we wouldn't be where we are now with the atmosphere imeasurably improved & the 1881 movement.
Spot on Chris 13. Although in my seat in The Rookery, I could not hear them, I could see that they were really getting behind their team on Sunday. Best away support so far this season.
