I agree when he came I said I had concerns when he came (many disagreed on here) but like Tel from experience : Moyes is a negative managerial numpty. Nothing nothing good playwise has come here - the fans keep us going (and Pickford -lol)
We drew against a full strengh Watford team the last game of last season and Sam made about 10 changes playing most of our kids. If it wasnt for bad refereeing wed have won that game. This shows me how far we have fallen in the last 11 months!
Baz man - I said he has looked no worse than those two but also hasn't looked better (effectively agreeing with you and giacch) and I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a chance - I'm just saying he hasn't exactly made me think "yeah get him in the side" when he's come on. He's looked half the player he was under Allardyce - but then again, the side had the best centre mid partnership I;ve ever seen at the club when they played there last season! I was vying for promotion at work a few years ago - was by far the best qualified and experienced but my interview was crap and I didn't get the job - so I worked my backside off to impress the management to ensure that I wasn't overlook the next time - I haven't seen that from Khazri - even with 10 minute and 15 minute spells here and there he should be making sure that the manager has to pick him for the next game by making a difference - he hasn;t! (As I say - Borini and Januzaj haven't either)
I fully agree mate. If you're not starting games and you do get a chance from the subs bench then I would be busting a gut to make sure I made it difficult for the manager to leave me out again. He hasn't done that, if he loses the ball he stops running FFS!!! put some effort in and win it back and help your team mates out. It's not rocket science is it? I reckon he knows he doesn't figure in DM's plans and is engineering a move in the summer.
It takes something for a manager to come out with so many specifics, but even allowing for reporter embellishment, the message was clear for Khazri and maybe he just does not want to do it. Also, he is not the kind of player to give as much effort as others.
So for the people laying into Khazri, would you prefer: a) a player that 'works hard' every week but offers nothing in terms of quality Or b) a player that 'can't be arsed' but is capable of doing something match winning? Scoring a screamer, for example Would be interested to hear people's thoughts on the above.
Think we've only scored in one game in the last 8/9. Yet we carry on doing the same thing over and over.
I'm not referring to the accuracy of the article though. I'm talking about Moyes' messed up logic. He won't play Khazri because in the brief appearances he's made he hasn't made or scored a goal, yet Januzaj starts every game and he's not making or scoring goals in the hours and hours he gets on the pitch.
Me too, hence the question, which no one has answered as yet (not properly anyway). Someone put it on the MDT, Einsteins insanity definition: "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"
I entirely agree that the lack of trying alternative options is ridiculous. In fact, I am finding the team selections and comments from the manager increasingly baffling. As for hard workers vs 'can't be arsed' talent, I think there has to be room for both, especially at a club of our current standing. Sometimes you have to forgive a player a lack of tracking back or hard running in the knowledge that they have the ability to change a game if you give the ball to them in the right areas. Unfortunately, it seems to have become ingrained at SAFC that anyone who even half looks like they might be that kind of player is viewed with suspicion both inside the club and by the fans. The irony is, a lot of the apparently 'hard working' players aren't that hard working. Not to mention that most of them are also very average (at best) players.
It's a balance though isn't it. It's not a choice of one or the other, it's a judgement of which personnel suit the opponent and tactics you want to employ the most. We should have taken the game to both Burnley and Watford IMO as they were games we had to win to stand any chance of stopping up. That should have included some more attack minded creative players - Khazri would fit that bill, IMO. Instead we played both games almost identically and barely had a shot on target.
Januzaj is undoubtedly capable of b and fits that mould perfectly. Khazri last season had a healthy helping of both. (Hard work and quality) I don't know why Januzaj starts shad of Khazri as, from performances this season, neither are hard enough workers and neither offers more than the other. But it'd be nice to see Khazri given a chance
With a midfield as **** and inconsistent as ours has been. I'm expecting nowt from tonight, but hoping for a bit more pride and steel from Catts, with N'Dong and Rodders alongside him. A change up top would help, but I'd drop Borini for Khazri. I can't recall anything good coming from Borini this year??
