Just been looking at various game highlights.. when it comes off we look good... and I guess our coach is playing a numbers game..... get enough balls to the wing.... and get enough across... and we score... I just think we need to restructure, particularly against poorer teams so we can have a centre forward to aim for
Sounds a bit like GT theory. All we need now is a Bissett and a Jenkins. And a Barnes And a Callaghan Oh - and a Rostron...
FEz, or anyone really, doe sthe whole ball have to cross the line for it to be a goal or just 50.00001%??
Rule 10 of the Laws of the Game “A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, between the goalposts and under the crossbar, provided that no offence or infringement of the Laws of the Game has been committed by the team scoring the goal.”
If you remember the Pussetto clearance against Spuds last season there were some good pictures showing how close that was to being a goal. That may give you a visual representation to refer to, but it is 100% of the ball must be over the line
On quest they showed the computer graphic of the ball over the line but there was no analysis of exactly when that happened. Certainly it was clear the ball was not over the line when it came down off the bar.
I saw it suggested somewhere that the keeper took the ball over the line as he turned into Pedro's challenge. The ball was over the line before Pedro touched him. It doesn't look like this on the videos but the angles are all wrong.
A Russian linesman would have saved all the debate. Seems to hinge on whether Gunn took the ball over the line before ( = goal) or after Pedro made contact (= goal if fair shoulder to shoulder , no goal 99% of the time whether fair or not). We were a bit lucky with the wycombe goal being chalked off for foul on Ben foster. But then we have enough hard luck stories of our own.
Bournemouth equaliser was a double foul on Foster set up by a player who should have been sent off twice
VAR would have ruled it out because it was Watford not because of the collision between Pedro and the keeper But I am not bitter
