Match Day Thread Watford v Southampton 13th January 2018

Discussion in 'Watford' started by Hornet-Fez, Jan 11, 2018.

  1. I can be a bit one eyed at times so only refer to the ones I felt were genuinely legitimate. I also never saw the highlights. But now you have mentioned I agree we should have had three penalties. Some probably think the Southampton players should have told the ref to give them.

I have watched it a number of times, and am not convinced it was a deliberate handball. Also unless there were multiple cameras I am not sure it would have been conclusive with a VAR system.

    It was disgusting from Doucoure.

He should be reprimanded, big time.

    We don´t deserve that point.

If it had happened to us we'd be up in arms about it.

How many times do we hear players should play to the whistle, exactly what Doucoure did. It cannot be proved how much intention he had in that split second.

The goal stands the same as unjustified goals against us have stood in the past.

I guess so, but I still have no doubt he knew he handled it twice, so to run off celebrating is cheating in my book.

  9. Should we both be worried about how much we are in agreement on most football related matters? <whistle>

  10. And if we had lost we would have been up in arms about a fair few decisions and their tactics. To be fair I don't blame them - it's how the game has gone. I won't pretend I like it but we have to take what we can.

Mexican H,we've never belonged to each others fan clubs, but a big well done for YOUR honesty.Shame on some of you others with double standards, maybe belonging to the mature of thought, whining group of 'Oooo the referees dont like us',e.g the appalling number of red/yellow cards over the last few years is SO unfair.
What nobody quite managed to mention ,yes like the Reading incident dragged up in justification, is that the 'Doucoure' actually resulted in a goal being awarded. Some of you should forfeit the right to rant in the future when things go AGAINST you....unlikely to stop you.

Message to any kids reading is anythings ok if its in favour of YOUR team.
Sportsperson Of The Year award has to go to Mr-Give -A-Damn Fez

It is precisely because unfair decisions go against all teams that Doucoure was correct in letting the officials make the decision on the legality of the 'goal'. We all agree the 'goal' was unfairly awarded but mistakes happen in all sports. As they always say these things even themselves out over time, hopefully the refs will not have this incident in mind when faced with any future close decisions regarding Watford!!

Not at all. He decided to follow the laws of the game and let the officials do their jobs. Of course he could have spoilt the day of tens of thousands of Watford supporters, his teammates, his coach, directors etc by admitting it was actually handball.

If all wrong decisions could be corrected then own up to this mistake but of course that cannot happen.

On the assumption that all those mentioned would appreciate the dishonesty.Wonder if Stewart Scullion will be turning in his dribble

Scullion would have had a full understanding of the importance of a Watford player's decision not to endanger the club by interfering with the officials decision. Potentially losing that point could result in relegation and the loss of many jobs at WFC. I don't think you have thought about the potential consequences of reversing one bad decision.

If only life was that simple. It is easy to insist on a clear conscience knowing the consequences will not affect you personally apart from maybe supporting a Championship club instead of a Premier league one next season.

Would you also justify the 'hand of God' incident by Maradona in 1986, by the same logic ?
