I'm quite prepared to ignore those and wait for extended highlights on Hornet Player where Howe mentions will be few and far between...
Good summing up A1, it did feel like we'd not actually achieved anything. Just bumped into my Watford supporting neighbour who summed it up: anti-climax. Because of the early kick off last week we didn't achieve promotion 'at a game' if you get my meaning, so it feels like we were denied twice. Mini Bloother is still gutted and doesn't want to go tomorrow. We'll make a last minute decision and jump on the tube if we decide to go. Don't want to look back and regret not going. I still want to know what Probert's beef is with Watford, because it's looking like it's personal.
I am glad you said that about Probert. I'm really not one for conspiracy theories but it does look as though he has it in for us. A good example was the way he gave Ben Watson a dressing down after he had been on the wrong end of a bad challenge. Quite what that was about is beyond me
Have read on here and elsewhere comments to the effect that the Sheffield fans were excellent. I'm not sure that they deserved this from one (or more) of our idiots...
Have just seen a 'retraction' - the guy is, it would seem, an Owls fan - not a Watford fan. None of which explains the relevance to yesterday though...
There's a slowed down clip doing the rounds on Twitter. Absolute stonewall. I was in the Rookery and we were absolutely convinced it was a pen. We were right.
They should have been nicked. Using child abuse to point score against your rivals is no more acceptable than racism, homophobia or singing about disasters in my book.
Well I think it is time to wrap up the match threads for this season. Despite the anti-climax of Saturday I still hold onto my view that this has been one of the best seasons in my memory which goes back to 1950. The old saying about not being there, but getting there will give you pleasure. For me that is very true. I have tried to use a few ideas in the match thread introductions that came to mind, but found that because I am not technically savvy enough I did become a bit frustrated trying to put graphics with words. I would like someone else to take it on and provide a new slant on things rather than have it go stale. I could probably find more interesting snippets about Halifax, Aldershot or Cambridge Utd, than I suspect I could about some of the teams we will be faced with. It is a long way off to the start and there will plenty happening at The Vic to keep us involved, so just enjoy what has been and look forward to tomorrow.
Thanks very much OFH - the threads have been a joy matched by your in match "commentaries" from the hornet player. Thanks also for the advance notice with regard to next season. I think we could start a thread inviting volunteers, ideas and views on what people would like to see in a thread. I hope you'll share your experience and ideas. Thanks again
Thanks Dan. I am not quite sure how it started, but various people have produced threads and somehow I just seemed to wander into doing them every week. It would be good I think if there were three or four people doing it in turn as that way there would be different forms of presentation. AK did some very good ones for us but then said he needed a break. I now know that to try and think up something different, especially when it is twice a week takes time. I have always felt that there will be some who do not have access to 3CR or HP, so to provide something of a running commentary will help them keep in touch. It has surprised me how often when two or three of us are doing this, just how we pick up on exactly the same points. I know that AK found this site difficult from a technical point of view. What I know is pure trial and error. This thread looked rather different until I went to preview and found that two thirds of the pictures I wanted to use did not appear. There may be a way round this, but I haven't found out how. Maybe a thread would be a good idea to ask for people to take a turn. I will do one from time to time, but I don't want to do them all.
You have definitely done your stint M Frenchie, just as Ak did. It'd be lovely to see the odd one or two from both of you over the season but I know from personal experience the threads take time to prepare so it's a big job for one person. Thanks so much for all you've done .. They've been fab!
