I loved the fact that as Shane charged down Cathcart’s clearance prior to scoring, the only Watford player appealing for handball was none other than Abdoulaye Doucouré. Delicious irony!

 

He does seem to appeal for anything !

Watched the first bit several times....no need to see any more As Shane said he was pleased about a record, but would have preferred it to be the winning goal. It deserved to be.

 

See there are half-joking murmurs about a transfer thread...it will be full of players leaving (or rumoured to be) but I think we will be even worse than usual about guessing any incoming players. Most likely to be relatively unknown players that Ralph thinks he can do something with. Might as well go with the flow, but where's the fun in that

Last season that would have had us in 8th. Any takers? I think with an improved squad we'll be top 10 contenders with an outside chance of a European slot and decent runs in the cup.

It has been amusing watching people swing from ecstasy to despair based on every single result. The fact is that Ralph started from a very low position and we haven't been able to climb the table much because other teams are also winning, but from scarcely winning at all Saints have started to win on a regular basis and have even got points against top sides. A whole season like that would get us comfortably mid-table (as you say), so although we mustn't count chickens we have every reason to be optimistic.

there is definately an immense irony that Shane Long scored the fastest ever goal in the prem.

he seems a top bloke to me but I mean his average was what? About 1 goal per season since he joined saints (until recently). Its hilarious!
