He has been the driving force from mid-field of late and will be missed. Tom Cleverley has set his sights on returning from injury after the March international break having sustained minor ligament damage against Wycombe Wanderers. With Nathaniel Chalobah serving the second of his two match suspension and Dan Gosling unable to play on Wednesday, suddenly our mid-field options look a little on the light side. Forest on the other hand are reporting no new injury problems after their 0-1 home loss to Luton Town on Tuesday. There are likely to be some familiar names to the Watford fans. Garner, Knockaert and Murray all played on Tuesday. Thnaks for the thread OFH. Literally, was just going to start one. I wonder what out MF will look like. Maybe Sema can drop back in there and Pedro play LF with AG in the middle. I am going to get up to listen to this one. COYH!
Not much news available today apart from on Tom. I think that Wilmot has played as a mid-fielder, or maybe Ngakia or Zinckernagel would fill in.
---------BACK-------- KF---CC----TE----AM -----------WH--------- ---ZINC---------SEMA SAR------AG-------JP I reckon Muñoz will line up like this.
If Garner hits a decent corner of free-kick then it is sod's law. (I know he hit the bar for us once, was it?) Christ Almighty, when was the last time we scored of a free-kick directly? I can't even remember, but my memory isn't best. Does Murray start for then?
I hope Gosling will be fit. We are a little stretched. Obviously Garner and Murray could combine for a winner but what about a twist with Zinckernagel scoring a free kick or another sumptuous assist? Will Wilmot play DM or Sanchez? Wilmot started in that position years ago so it would not be difficult for him but that would change the position Hughes plays in. A selection delema.
Just had a look at the fixtures and we have a week off after this game. There has to be as few changes as possible in my humble opinion. Both, for players and formation. Muñoz won't change the formation I hope at least.
FFS according to a quick google search and on the Athletic: https://theathletic.co.uk/2259719/2020/12/17/watford-free-kick-curse-analysis/ "No one, since Almen Abdi guided the ball into the bottom left-hand corner from 25 yards at home to Aston Villa on April 30, 2016, has been able to follow in his footsteps." UNREAL. EDIT: That was publisehd By Adam Leventhal Dec 16, 2020 I don't remember one going in after mind.
Where does the new guy Sanchez play? Is he available? Might be thrown in at the deep end with the need for midfield cover.
Gosling not available, so a reshuffle required. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/injury-update-latest-from-the-treatment-room-1
