everyone is a goalkeeper coach and an ex-international goalkeeper when it comes to the analysis of a 'keeper. As the former, I will say that Foster will be upset with himself that having got to it, he didn't get a strong enough hand/wrist on it, and maybe not enough diagonal step forwards on his dive to help deflect the ball further, BUT that ball was hit with some power and I think it actually moved at the last minute - I may be mistaken there though.
All in all, Foster earned that draw for us, most notable IMHO, the way he stood up to AS-M in the one on one that Cathcart created for them saved us conceding a second, the way he handled that situation allowed us to get two players behind the ball and forced the bad pass to Longstaff.

In short, Foster was as much to blame for us not winning as King was in not watching the line on the disallowed goal, or our defenders not closing down the third long-distance shot in as many minutes from Longstaff

Fair points - Foster did look disappointed afterwards beating the ground in frustration (showing he does care despite what some claim)

I suppose at 38 his relaxes or movement won't be quite as fast as they used to be.

TBH I was more annoyed as you we allowed the shot to be had in the first place at the time.

As a keeper I guess you can make as many saves as you can but if you let a soft in then people iwll point fingers.

Foster was my motm. He has high standards and so believes he should have saved it having got there. A lessor goalkeeper would not have taken such ridiculous flak, it would not have been seen as an error.

Did anyone notice if Jarrod Gillett has refereed in the EPL since this - or has he been rightly demoted to the Herts County League?

Think he was a VAR ref or 4th official somewhere.

That would explain our disallowed goal

Just checked - he was fourth official for the Chelsea - Southampton match. Presumably the guy managers whinge to when the ref rules against one of their players?
