Jurado wasn't at the races and left Anya with no help. It was obvious a goal would come from that side and it did. Flores swapped Abdi over after 20 mins and that solved the problem then at half time Jurado was hooked. At best he should have been on the bench rather than starting. Once we reverted to the formation & 11 that has been working the best recently we improved no end and the second half we did ourselves justice. I think Nyom is carrying that knee injury and should be rested. Igy needs to learn to square the ball. TD was unlucky not to get a brace with some excellent struck shots. It was quiet yesterday; the chemistry between team & crowd is one where each has to inspire the other and it was an off day for both. Cold & windy, it was more difficult to play than people may think.
Agree with most of the other posts ...Jurado looks nothing special and Nyom appeared to be limping at one point ... 1st half lacklustre , at half time feared a 3 or 4 nil defeat was on the cards ..2nd half think we were the better side . Atmosphere was very poor, worst in ages at the Vic apart from towards the end , but it was bitterly cold . At half time I got so bored sitting in corner of the LGT stand ..We had a poxy cameraman keep walking in front of our field of vision , no one was making any noise around , only moaning about Anya and Flores ..So we got up at half time and moved to the rookery in front of the singing section ..had a nice view from there , some choice language around , but much more fun than the morgue we had been sitting in . Think I will be buying tickets in the Rookery from now on . It was weird at full time ...I was still buzzing from Deeney's equaliser ..and that rush of happy hormones , when Troy's second goal went in it seemed to have no bio chemical response within . just a few expletives uttered . Football can be such a cruel game . Credit to Deeney for trying to protect the goal . He has to be getting close to the best loved player to put on a Watford shirt . Still remain happy about our prospects for the rest of the season . We have competed in every game so far . The team is stronger than last year . Assuming we stay up ... I wonder if there is any chance we could sign Nathan Ake ?... he is a classy player .
He's here for the season, so this should mean we avoid the curse of loanees going back in January. Wont be able to play against Chelsea though. In defence of Jurado, I think he was beginning to show what he is capable of before he got injured. However, Man Utd was too much too soon.
I thought we were as impressive in the second half as we were poor in the tirst. Nothing stuck in the first and we were very un-cohesive and resorted to clearing the ball long which then just came straight back at us, that was a confidence thing. What's obvious is that we do have the tools to match up against any team, it's just maintaining the shape and confidence from the starting whistle to the 95th minute. If we can string three wins on the hoof now who knows what Christmas and New Year will bring but anythings possible in this league, indeed it seems to be turning into the championship ie any team can beat any other.....
