The comments on this thread have been brought to you by Salvador Dali I suspect this is one of the matches everybody looked out for when the fixture lists came out. I've said before that the vast majority of posters on here are pretty level headed with regard to our prospects so it's interesting to see how many think we'll get something. It's a huge indication of how far we have come in such a short space of time. Here's hoping...
From the Watford Observer: The Hornets will take on Manchester United a week after the terror attacks in Paris, which targeted the Stade de France. Premier League officials have been liaising with police and the government over games due to take place this weekend. Hannah Georgiou said on behalf of Hertfordshire Constabulary: “We’d reassure people that there has been no specific intelligence to suggest that the safety of those attending the match on Saturday will be compromised. "However, to help people feel safe and for added reassurance, extra police resources will be in place on the day. “Watford Football Club will have additional security measures in place, which will take the form of extra searches when supporters enter the ground. “Whilst these extra measures are being put in place, I would reiterate that supporters can expect to attend a safe and enjoyable event on Saturday.”
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney are among five players who will miss Saturday's trip to Watford. Martial, 19, was injured in France's friendly international against England on Tuesday, while Rooney is ill. Michael Carrick, injured in England's friendly against Spain, joins Marouane Fellaini and Antonio Valencia on the treatment table. Van Gaal said striker James Wilson is not fit to play 90 minutes.
The thing I want to see tomorrow is that if Man Utd go in front, our heads don't go down. We played really well against Arsenal for 60 minutes and then imploded when they scored their first goal, and I am told it was a bit similar against Leicester for a while. Man Utd are not a great side this season and should not be feared, if we go a goal down it is not the end of the world, we can get back into the game, our players have to believe that.
Whilst or while. Which is correct and why? I think this is a game we can win. Manchester United have a good defence as we do and they are not good at scoring goals like our team, We have the advantage of being at home so we could win, West Ham United found out what Watford can do, so why not Manchester United?
Whilst you consider which one is right, I will be having a cup of coffee while I dream about our win tomorrow
Good idea and While YOU consider which one is right, I will be having a cup of coffee whilst I dream about our win tomorrow
They are interchangeable. Unless while is being used as a verb. Americans find whilst a little pretentious but British use either..
I wonder if this affects our planning. We must have researched their style before so many players went missing.
Might never get a better chance to grab a point or two. Mind you be our luck that Depay for example decides to turn it on.
I am a little worried that Man U "reserves" may be more keen to demonstrate why they should be a first choice and so play extra well tomorrow. Sometimes the old guard get complacent. I am sure the game will not be any easier due to Mu's absences
