Another game where we won the “stats” battle. More possession, more shots, more shots on target etc. it seems doom and gloom and it certainly will be if we go down. BUT we never get hammered and we’re usually the better team in admittedly dull affairs. Survival is a must. Then if we can buy a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net. A couple of full backs and we get our two best wingers back. We’re one of the better sides in a pretty poor division.
Lets be honest, Coyle gets turned inside out every single game. I dread to think how many goals we have conceded this season that have come down the right hand side and any half witted opposing manager would know this. I'm dreading Monday because Coventry could really rip us one.
If you look at their break for the goal they won it or got it in their last third played a ball wide through our lines which were 25 yds apart and they were away - it’s awareness or lack of it that let them through. Some players do NOT bust a gut to try and get back yet in this situation they need to . At Millwall the whole team chipped in , it seems they think they are safe now .
Shades of why he's never become the player he should have done. How many clubs has he been at where the fans take to him? But drop off in large numbers after a dozen games? Shame because there is a top player there.. On the team, if they stay up (big if) massive rebuild required or else next season will be very similar to this...Can't see if happening, but you never know.
A very disappointing performance, first half I thought we did okay, but 2nd half, like at SW, we just didn't look like scoring What we fail to do it get to the by-line, both wingers usually cut inside and deliver with their good foot, rather than go passed their man on the outside and then pass across the goal where forwards should be around the penalty spot or 6 yd box. That is how Watford scored. Someone on X had done a video showing 17 goals we conceded this season have come from our right, which shows defensively we are poor that side, but also a lot of goals come from players getting to the by-line and crossing. I guess it is still in our hands, but we just have to start playing better or we are sleep walking to relegation.
I don't think that was the plan when Acun spit his dummy out and sacked Rosenior. Its ok offering free travel to pompey for a 12.30 ko, but this seasons debacles are down to his decisions ( or lack of). We are in a far worse position then we were when he bought us, and millions of pounds in debt because of it.
thats why i purposely didnt comment after the win on Saturday, not because i only like posting after negative results, just because i couldnt be arsed with the hyperbole again. how many players short we were from winning the league next year, etc. a win is a win at this time of the season, and performances dont really matter but how anybody could have watched the 93 minutes proceeding Hughes header and conclude we were safe is beyond me, look at the predictions for this game on this thread, i was the only one who predicted defeat ( apart from Erik but he does it every week ) i cant have been the only one who really thought we were going to lose.
I’ve just listened to the Ruben’s and Regans interviews. Do they realise they are in a relegation scrap, regan talks like it’s a formality they won’t go into the bottom 3 and they’ve got an age to turn it around. He mentions the characters and the need for the players to come together. Where are these characters and why haven’t the players come together before now, it’s not like this situation has just been dropped on them
