Trouble is we lose a few games or don’t play well fans will be calling for that manager to go. It’s not like everyone thought Bilic for example was unlucky and unfairly treated. Quite the opposite- some thought he should have gone much earlier! Same with Munoz the season before . It’s only really Edwards in recent times who people have had sympathy with regarding how he was treated although easier to be wise after the event and now he is doing well at them lot . Maybe everyone needs to focus on getting players who will fit together well as a team rather than putting pressure on x manager straight away meaning he has no ability to build a team and adopt his own style on it .
I know this is a bit tongue in cheek but the Pozzo's don't place their trust in Italian players either - they only had two of them in their starting eleven for their last match. Apparently their goal is to get cheap talent from eleven different countries with no common language (this works if you have eleven wives who can't talk to each other !) but this is no basis for a football team.
Looking at club videos a lot can speak English to some degree except Sarr it seems .. And I guess the younger players - trouble is we seem to be relying on them !
I have often thought, as I watch a sub getting his instructions, do they understand what is being asked of them?
It's not so much a question of language Mark, but rather cultural assimilation. If you take a player from eg. Mexico and place him alone in Watford then he is going to feel culturally foreign and homesick whether he speaks a bit of the language or not - he only spends a small proportion of his time actually playing football the rest is social - and if he doesn't feel at home then his performances will suffer. Some other clubs have realized that it's better to have pairs of players eg. 2 or 3 from the same country in order to help each other.
I agree with that cologne. I had the impression that Heurelho Gomes was a very valuable link in the dressing room.
Having calmed down and looked at the stats and the 11 minute highlights that was a game we should have won 2/3 - 1 And that sums up our entire season we had almost double their attempts at goal but 5 on target to their 4 but they won 3 - 2, we had 75 % possession and 13 corners to their 2 but they won 3 - 2 From a purely football point of view it does not make sense but sums us up this year for us Time to renew season tickets, same as usual I guess but we need something soon to give us any hope for next season
We’ll be renewing ours, but as Mrs Andy said, that last performance at home may have tipped the balance for many fans.
