Still lost for words. It looks grim for us at the moment, that is for sure. Going to try to forget it or it'll ruin my weekend. Have a goodun all.
Oliver apparently told Deeney that the red was for the "speed" of his foul on Hadergjonaj. That's a new one on me...
Does he mean intent or maybe aggressive... Probably not helped by the fact within 5 minutes of the game we were surrounding Oliver having a go at him or the fact Troy got into trouble last we had this ref.
To be honest I rarely have a go at referees, but that has to be one of the most inept performances I have seen in a long time. How he got himself into the position where he had to send off Hogg is laughable. When a player hardly touches an opposition player and gets a card for it is just plain ridiculous. Goal 1. Two players offside. Deeney sending off, maybe a yellow, nothing more. Hogg sending off. 1st yellow stupid. Penalty, dubious to say the least. These are not what I thought, but Jon Marks and the unknown commentators on the stream I had. Maybe Oliver should take a long look at his handling of the game and consider if he was correct in the decisions he made.
If you check the video of that first goal, you should see that there were actually three offside offences in the lead up to it - all in the space of about five seconds. Who knows what the linesman on that side was doing, but he can't have been watching play.
I was following on my mobi and I wish I hadn't, things must have really gone pear shaped today. I dread MOTD.
Awful afternoon... And now on the train back to Leeds. Just seen the Deeney sending off.. And imo not a red card. At all.. Plus their offside goal... Mind you Huddersfield outplayed us for stretches... A wretched afternoon Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
The pen was right in front of me. I know it was irrelevant by that point but it was just a bit of contact between two players. Given on in ten for me and that was the one.
Yes - even the Huddersfield fans weren't sure about that and admit they had some good fortunate but in someways the 3rd goal was the killer - what was Holebas doing!?
Yes did get that impression but don't think the ref was ever going to stop the game - all happened so quickly. There may have been a stray arm of course. EDIT: Just seemed to slip tbh Feel a bit sorry for Huddersfield - you win 4-1 away from home and only 4th on!
I think that Deeney will have a 4 game ban as it was effectively his second red of the season, even though his first was on video evidence, not during the game. I think that needless tackle was a combination of frustration at not playing regularly despite being captain, the state of the game and our current form. He tried to show some intent to battle to get back into the game and went about it the wrong way. At the start of the season, Silva said that TD is his captain and Gomes and Watson are his vice-captains. I think that needs to be revised as TD hasn't been a regular starter, and Watson has rarely been in the 18, and when he has been on the bench, has hardly been used.
As you say Yorkie, Huddersfield outplayed us, end of story. We aren't losing because of bad refereeing decisions, or bad luck, or lack of talent but because of the player's attitudes, and that is down to Silva. Once again we are flattering only to deceive and the winter implosion has begun. Hardly surprising when so many of our players are simply not attuned to the North European winter. What will change in January ? Are the Pozzo's going to send players to a manager who doesn't really want to be here, and will be gone at the end of the season anyway ?
I think I agree with what you say, I did not think it was a red as Troy cleanly took the ball first. If that had been a front on tackle and the player went down it would even have been a foul. I am hoping yesterday was just one of those bad days at the office although our team must be affected by all the injuries - why do we have so many, is it the training regime? Doucore's goal was a bright moment, wow was it travelling...
More worrying they all seem to be out for a long time with minor injuries - read Hughes is now out till January having originally been claimed he had a minor 2 week problem. Goodness know what GT would make of it all (I know at the last "Tales from the Vic" the former players weren't exactly impressed) TBF The 3 games before Palace we didn't do too badly in despite only getting a point and of course the Palace game itself was just so frustrating but was yesterday the start of a slippery slope. 2 more players banned as well - we will get a bad reputation as per last year. If this was another team we'd be saying they are shooting themselves in the foot and getting ill disciplined. Thing is we probably just need another 5/6 wins to be safe so hopefully some good fortune and performances are due! Be a shame if the good work of the early season went to waste.
Really.. not heard that elsewhere and I think Silva had said Capoue was going to start before the game .
I thought Silva made it clear on Thu/Fri that Capoue would start, yet, like Chris, at 2pm on Sat saw on the Sky app that Hughes was starting. Thought it a little strange and 10 mins later Hughes was replaced by Capoue. Thought at the time it was just a Sky error, or was it?
