I have only had this thread and the BBC text updates to go on, so hopefully I will be filled in from my season ticket owning flatmate later this evening. However, it sounds like Fulham were the better side. Did they win the tactical battle, or were their players just better? I am worried that although we are picking up points, we aren't playing well, and if we continue like that we won't pick up points from the teams around us when we play them. On the plus side, we seem to have gained some mental strength that we certainly didn't have before. We would have lost this game last year.
Watford ground out the three points tonight. Cathcart, Angella and Hoban played very well as did Gomes.
Sounded like a solid defensive performance. And that can only be a good thing for the struggle ahead.
Tonight is good Watford win in football SA win in icehockey. The bad part is SR also won so the SA-SR game on saturday is important, if SA lose in normal time SR are champions any other result and SA keep the cup.
Really? Lots of possession, but very little penetration. We hit the bar and came close two or three times, so scrappy yes but deserved? I think so. Haven't seen the final stats, but BBC had them ahead on the shot count at half time. News to everyone around us!! And how was their played not red carded? He raised his hands and pushed Vydra. Red card all day long. COYH
Couldn't agree more. Thought our control was excellent and the defence looked very assured. Pleased to see Pudil start and he did well enough. Have a feeling we will need most of the squad at some point.
A hard fought win without being at our best. Solid in defence but Gomes really did pull off a great save near the end. Battled well in midfield - Motta and AG did a decent job I felt. Wasn't sure the subs worked really. We won and march on to Wolves. Fulham lucky to keep 11 on the pitch btw!
The team need to believe in themselves as a team, not in their own publicity as they did tonight. It was almost our undoing - too much showboating, not enough application. Fair play to Fulham, much improved from a few months ago. I think the goal was again something of a gift, but no matter. 1-0, 10 minutes, Cowdenbeath anyone? Wrong! But then Cowdenbeath had only ten players for most of the game. Fulham had at least twelve. One of which was our seemingly relentless ability to be our own worst enemies. But that's not all. Which brings me to tonight's officials. Even by the almost gothically grotesque refereeing we've seen this season, tonight's ineptitude utterly beggars belief. I've said it before on these boards that ITOOTR* is one thing and none of us get his view. But the failure of a PMGO to apply the most basic application of the law is beyond unacceptable at this level. The worst thing about it is that, depending on how the referee words his report, Vydra is looking at a three match ban for a retrospective red card and there is sweet FA we can do about Richards yellow. Utterly ridiculous. Crass in the extreme. On the plus side I thought, given that Motta has not played since goodness knows when, he had a solid start. And we ground out another win. The atmosphere was fantastic too, I think the crowd helped tonight. Well done us, eh? Even th UGT were joining in!!
What for Fez? The coming together that caused the shove? I'm pretty sure the ref saw it and took no action.
This may sound stupid, but who is Motta. I was listening to the commentary and thought he was a Fulham player !

Anybody who was there... how come they had all the possession? And seemingly were pushing us back again and again..... is that the play of a team seeking automatic promotion????
Its true they put on a lot of pressure and we were defensive late on - maybe not helped by the changes.
Missed last night's game due to taking my youngest to Aberdeen for an appointment. From what I've read, it seems we were fortunate to win but displayed a hitherto unseen steel in defence, and ability to soak up pressure. Three points is three points though - at this stage of the season it doesn't matter how you get them, as far as I'm concerned.
