I really miss going to meetings with interpretation facilities. Some of them definitely chuck in words which weren't said or change them to make them funny!
It's an amazing thing to witness though. There was one woman who'd adapt her tone to the speaker so she'd drone on like the old man from Egypt and then go completely hyperactive like the nutter from Libya!
Sounds well above my level, I just scrape by as I can do 80% Spanish and 92.3% English, a thing not many can do here....
These were UN meetings but I'm not sure of their competency levels. I can follow French but hate speaking it as I sound like a right plum.
Never fear Dan. My French is described as that of a teenager. Yesterday on a shopping trip it was tested to the full. Lady I was speaking to had a real lift to her Saturday afternoon as I got certain words mixed up. Mind you I was quite proud that I could ask where to find books by a special author, and direct a lady to an empty table in an over filled restaurant. If only some footballers could manage to get by!
A lot of players do this crossing malarky and look to the heavens for whatever god they think is there. Evidence suggests it does not do much good.
I guess they're asking that they have a good game as individuals as God couldn't let both teams win. But maybe he's decided to support Watford this season!
My belief is that they are asking the good Lord to see them through 90 minutes without a broken leg or worse. I see that a Everton player had a fractured skull yesterday.
Yeah I do actually agree with that. And it was awful for the Everton player - hope he recovers fully ASAP.
Maybe this is what a conversation in a pub is actually like. It rambles, there is laughter as someone says something silly, and it moves on. Meanwhile there is someone sat on the sidelines who is lost by this unconnected stroll, but wishes they could contribute. Maybe I should have tried to bring it back onto topic, but we would have lost some valuable insight into each other.
It's brilliant - been dragged all over the place and we've all joined in. If anything it's a shame a few haven't been around to take part as it would have been even better. A one off I suspect - which makes it all the more enjoyable.
