He potentially saved us 2 points, although I don't condone such professional fouls we did pay a price.
I was quite impressed with his performance - seemed quite speedy. He got me to wondering who would win a sprint race between him and Sarr
Yes but did seem to fill up close to kick off time. Burnley did't sell out either which is no surprise as it as Friday night.
Fair enough but you just know if that had been a Cleverly or Cathcart the reaction would have not been so positive!
Haven't seen any highlights yet, but I did wonder at the time if his 'tackle' was actually necessary - Bachmann was pretty quick off his line to dive on the ball. Easy to say from an armchair though.
Am I the only person who thought that the referee was poor? I know that the officials have been instructed to be more tolerant with physical contact during games, but he allowed some of the Burnley players such as Barnes and Cork to get away with far too much. The yellow card for Asprilla was also ridiculous (after all that the ref had previously allowed). The throw-in which started the move that led to Kamara's dismissal (which was a correct decision) should have been awarded to Watford and not Burnley. Television replays showed clearly that the ball came off Taylor when it went into touch and the shocked expression on Asprilla's face (when the throw-in was awarded to Burnley) said it all.
Barnes attack on Sierralta in the first half would have had him in the magistrates court if it had taken place outside the ground. The ref didn't even issue a FPN.
Sounds like Hamza had a pretty decent debut ... never let us down whenever he got an opportunity to play ... his wholeheartedness should make him a bit of a fans favourite ... and opposition midfielders will be a bit wary because he never shirks a challenge. Pretty damn quick too. All the best to you and him for the season
I think the throw-in incident may have been down to the linesman, but, yes, overall the ref was far too lenient - on both sides, but more so on Burnley. Whilst VK has them playing some decent football, I would have thought he'd have done something to stop the bully-boy tactics of a couple of their players that highlighted Dyche's tenure. Sadly not.
Officials seems to be dividing Burnley fans! https://www.uptheclarets.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63624&sid=f
"Missed some crucial calls. 2 bad and blatantly cynical fouls on Barnes by the thug marking him and then a clear handball by the same chap. The early fouls on Benson were also cynical and were definitely yellow cards and he bottled it. Also fell for several blatant dives. He's a lot to learn this guy." I guess it all depends upon what colour your glasses are tinted, but I think the author of this comment has a lot to learn about his own team too. I'm not sure that Sierralta was the thug in that little battle - nor was the handball clear - I doubt it was to Sierralta who appeared to have Barnes' arm across his eyes when it happened. As an aside, I wonder if we should have such a thread on here?
Professional tumble when he lost the ball. The circumstantial evidence was against Hassane but the red card was a shocker: played the ball too far ahead, DB1 was always going to win the ball and the vimto kid understandably went down. Foul? Probably. DOGSO? Not in a month of Sundays.
Bachman did have it covered but had he not made a challenge it might have cost us two points, at least it was outside the penalty area
I think you will find that if it is a penalty it is a yellow unless it is for dangerous play Had Karama pulled him back inside the area it would've been a penalty but not a red
