We deserved nowt from that-we were lightweight and had nothing up front. Mayula what a complete and utter waste of 3.5 million quid
I watched the first half and thought we played well. Watford celebrated like they’d won the league - with their players going down with cramp. We lost - and goal scoring is our problem, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Maybe the January window will be kind to us for once. The lads put in a shift - no disgrace imho.
I quite enjoyed the first half - but then of course I would. Didn’t see the goal - busy putting Xmas decks up - heard it on the TV in the bar but couldn’t bear to watch it. I guess it was crap for us because we lost and for you because you were dominated at home and scraped a win with your players exhausted. A win is a win - congratulations. I just hope our guys don’t get disheartened.
The money spent unwisely in the summer on players who don't look like they will ever boost our squad is starting to look a bit sick now and I'm sure we could have done better. A lot of our play today was quite slick and, but for our lousy finishing from several players, we could have eked out a better scoreline at 1-1 or 2-1 which would have given us at least a single point. The commentators couldn't help but point out that Mehmeti can be quite selfish and his final pass often goes astray but he isn't the only guilty party on the same charge. Until such time that we can garner 60-70% of home points available we will have no chance of competing unless we change our total thought process and that could lead to even worse scenarios. Generally a 0-1 at Watford would rarely raise a concern but when you add it to all of our other failures this season it doesn't look quite as rosy. I am not overly upset with the result but the chances wasted by some players is becoming very boring because we were supposed to have fixed that problem - but we haven't again.
we cannot score goals -these games are being lost because out front end is first division not championship level.Until city sort it we are always going to be mid table.
Cleverly was impressed - apparently… https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tom-cleverley-left-blown-away-9748220 I thought we played well. Obviously disappointed with the loss but we played some good football at times.
We looked really good especially the first half, but we’re missing someone to put the ball away. I’m slightly concerned that once they figured us out, we weren’t able to adapt, that’s worrying because it’s becoming a theme. No plan B
If indeed some genius at BCFC has a plan B then do we have the players to change our outcomes? Our front line is firing blanks, if anything at all, and after spending a lot of money to correct that issue supposedly here we are back close to the starting point again. Mehemti, Mayalu, Wells, Armstrong, Twine, Cornick and a couple of others were supposed to get us going in the goals department but as yet nobody has taken up the challenge. Going back over several years ago we consistently had a top goal scorer who was in the top 3-5 in the Championship (Maynard, Abraham worthy of note) but now we struggle to get a single player in the top 20, which is a damnation of our inability to attract good players and we satisfy ourselves with lesser beings expecting them to pull magic rabbits out of imaginary hats. Good sound business plans seem beyond us so perhaps we need to hire a team magician who can perform miracles beyond the norm.
In fairness to Manning he does now seem to have us well coached, we do for the most part have a system that allows us to compete with most teams in this division. Where we lack is we don’t have a top striker. We were supposed to be addressing that in the summer, but let’s be honest we failed abysmally. The two we bought plainly aren’t good enough yet. I get we have to stay within our budget, but, with the money and wages spent on Twine, Fally and Armstrong surely we could have afforded a decent championship striker instead and still have a bit left to buy a 2nd one. Maybe still buy Fally for the future, but not buy Twine, or Armstrong. I think we got our priorities wrong.
I agree with most of Ashton's comment. Where I disagree is I believe Twine will come good if his injuries clear up. Early on this season he kept hitting bodies on the line, and 3 or 4 goals back then would have turned draws into wins. I can see a 'footballer' in there and he'll weigh in with goals from free kicks around the box. Whereas I can't, right now, see much hope with Fally or Armstrong.
I just feel we have options in midfield, and for the money spent we could’ve spent it more wisely, the Twine money should have gone towards a striker imo, but it’s all about opinions I get that .
To me it's all about priorities and making the right decisions. We have known for a couple of years that our forward line has not been up for the task and knowing that we go out and buy at least 2 players who don't look to be any good. Knowing your priorities is one thing but it's a totally different task filling the voids and we have failed on the second phase of that commitment - badly. Remember HNM?
Sorry, I thought it was about £6million. Whatever it was it looks an awful waste. Genuinely believe the money spent on Twine will prove far more beneficial, especially in the short term, than whatever Armstrong and Fally cost.
