Derby, Wigan, Reading, Brighton all lose, Forest losing. Another couple of points would have put us nearer to them all.
Looks like I missed a cracker? ;( Couldn't spare the time to listen in tonight - had a pile of assessment marking that a kangaroo couldn't jump over. I've only got 17 kids in my current class, but have had to give them three Maths assessments and one language assessment already this week - with a writing one to prepare for tomorrow for them. Just finished and am bushed...
That is whay irks me the most, why are all the above in a bit of decline just when we can't get it all together. Watford head coach Beppe Sannino: "I'm very disappointed but in English football you have to pay attention to the last, last minute of the game. This is the rule of English football. "We nearly won this game but it was not only this game. Since I joined the club there were many games we have dropped points in the last five minutes of games. "This game reflects Watford's season perfectly." Ain't the first Watford manager to say someting similar, remember the Prem too? Why is this?
Whilst giving the lead away late on was annoying if not unexpected have to say Blackburn probably merited their point. Certainly caused us all sort of problems and whilst we scored a couple of nicely taken goals they had more shots? Summed up why we are mid-table really (and them) Alumina had a bad game punching which lead to a couple of their goals.
Can't argue with any of this. We started with real pace and verve but midfield disappeared after 15minutes and didn't really come back to life until the middle of the second half. Almunia's fear of catching the ball was alarming and even with the third goal he started to come for the ball and then stopped in no man's land. Lovely move and finish for Battochio's goal.
Cheers Mark and Theo for the comments, here are some highlights from yesterday's game: M.C. seemed chuffed to score his first and maybe last goal for us!! Good for him! The offside goal looked dubiously onside to me, also M.A punching was a bit dubious for BOTH their goals. Seemed an unstoppable header at the end too, fair play, a salmon-esk jump from their player at the death! Mid-table it looks like then....
Also some stats on timing of goals, maybe it is not as bad as I thought: http://experimental361.files.wordpr...ls-scored-and-conceded-by-sextile-1603123.png
I was expecting a better defensive display than that given we'd gone 6 in a row at home without conceding before last night. All our goals were well taken, though. I was only 3 rows back in the Rookery and the move for the disallowed goal was right near me and I couldn't believe the decision. On the way back from the game I heard a couple of people talking about Manu and suggesting that if he's still with us next season, he is back-up to Bond which I thought was ridiculous. If Manu is going to stay, he'll still want to be #1.
I think Manu will stay, and Bond should be out on loan at a lg1 club to get 40+ games under his belt. Woods is a capable and far more experienced keeper.
I think there is a goalkeeping problem. Not the goalkeepers but their coach. You would say Alex Chamberlain is a good guy but all the goalkeepers who are taught by lose something.
2nd goal was avoidable twice but TBF their other 2 were well taken albeit we could have done better but they al say that don't they.
